This video just blew my mind and I had to share it.

If anybody has a bluray or hddvd player, you are actually breaking a law if you don't own planet earth.

^^^^^I traded in my regular DVD of Planet Earth for the blu-ray version the day I bought my PS3. The difference is absolutely staggering. The fantastic footage looks so much better in HD.

I still need to go out and buy a real copy of that. I have a "backup version" of it, but not by choice. I actually went out one day to buy it and couldn't find it anywhere, so I had my friend "produce" me a copy.
But I love it so much, I'll still make it a point to drop the 60 or 100 bucks that it costs to support the people who made it.

Spectacular set of shows. Anybody that likes nature shows must see it. Must own it.

saw it when it was on CBC HD and this was one of the most amazing shows I've ever seen. Especially the shots of the Lions jumping the elephants shot using night vision. It was the first documented time lions had gone after full grown elephant.

I have this thing about not being able to return a gift. For my birthday my wife bought it for me on dvd and I had to take the plunge and basically say "hey . . . you're awesome, but this has to go back".

You guys are making me jealous. Now I'm thinking about buying an HD TV and DVD player just for Planet Earth. And hockey, of course.

Irony alert. People talking about how wonderful nature is after sitting inside and watching it on tv.

The Planet Earth HD-DVD set was the first purchase I made after I got my player. Simply incredible.

A friend of mine told me they watched it on regular SD, I felt really sorry for them. Don't even bother, wait until you can check it out in HD.

Hey, if I could take 10 minutes to walk outside and watch all that stuff happen I'd be all over it...but, it doesn't work that way, so it's as close as we get.

Deoxyribonucleic Acid, for example... sounds impressive, right? But have you ever seen what happens if you put something in acid? It dissolves! If we had all this acid in our cells, we'd all dissolve! So much for the Theory of Evolution, Check MATE!

what i don't get is how do they do those moving camera time lapse shot? do they have some incredibly slow moving boom that moves nanometers at a time, or is it just digital editing? that's what so great about this series though, you forget that there's a camera and crew there. everything looks so natural

Yeah, every time I go outside I'm constantly amazed by the high resolution, fast refresh rates, rich colours and brightness of the images that I see!

I am betting that video would be great with some marijuana in your system.

You'd better believe it. I crashed on my mountain bike a few years ago and landed face first in a big puddle. A shadow swept over me, I looked up just in time to see a huge great horned owl fly over me. He landed in a tree 25 feet away and I like to think he was laughing at me. Nothing like the real thing, but these DVDs are definitely awesome.

I was mountain biking in Kananaskis and I came around a corner and almost ran into two black bear cubs literally 4 or 5 feet in front of me. They were pretty cute, but I didn't have any time for an "awww" moment as I could hear the mom crashing through the undergrowth. So I got out of there before I got mauled to death.
