Aaron Rodgers, came in the game against Dallas this year and looked really good. Former first rounder a few years ago, he'll probably be annointed the new starter.
P.S. i didn't put the link up when i posted this thread as it was just titled breaking news, no story at the time.

I guess he wants to leave after having a decent season and doesn't want to risk going out 4-12.

I was hoping he would come back, that young team rallied around him and it was awesome to watch old man Farve toss that ball like it was the 90's again.

Aaron Rodgers will have a lot of pressure to live up too but he will be a very good starter for the Packers

Not really a lot left to do when you've won a Super Bowl and broken every single major passing record.

Smart decision to go out after a very good year. Great and long career capped by a good year and good sense of timing.

As a Lions fan, the only appropriate response is, "FINALLY!!".

Now if only we can coax Barry out of retirement...

He is a living legend. In history he will be mentioned in the same breath as Unitas & Montana. It was a real treat watching him over the years. My only regret was that I never got to watch him play live.

The team is in a much better position now to hand the reigns off to a guy like Aaron Rogers than they were two years ago. Pretty incredible career all in all given the number of consecutive starts at that position. He is the one Hall of Fame QB that I really had the honor of watching from start to end of his career.

Really didn’t think he would go out on throwing that awful pick in OT of the NFC championship

Did anyone listen to the farewell to Favre on The Fan 960 this morning, around 9:30'ish? GOLD!! I'm still laughing.

As for Favre, not trying to come down on the guy, but I just have to pose this question. Last week Favre said that his decision to come back next year depended on what the Packers did in UFA(which IMO was pretty bush. He's got a great WR core, solid run game, top 5 D, and even arguably the best P and K in the game. He's on a Super Bowl contender, why pull this "ransom" crap?). He also said for the 2nd year in a row that he really wants Randy Moss. Yesterday Moss signs with the Patriots. Today Favre retires. Coincidence?

I'm not saying this is for sure why he retired, but its certainly curious timing, considering his remarks last week. I'd really hope a legend such as him wouldn't retire over something so petty.

A great Favre story that Peter King wrote back in Dec.

I love PK, one of the best writers in the game. He's always had a serious mancrush for Favre. Him and Madden need to be put on suicide-watch for the next few days I think, just to be safe.
