Ha I thought the same thing. I was going to say that he should still run the province while he is still in high school and knows everything.

It's very easy to find people who have no experience in being responsible for much because the answers to everything start with, well it's real easy ...

And way to quote the worst Canadian of all time.

The Libs and NDP are going to have to gut their leadership and start over, people didn't believe strongly enough in their message to change their votes.

This is a truly terrible election result as no message has been sent to a conservative party thats been basically allowed to mail in the last term and this election.
Well, a message has been sent, but it's been sent to the left wing. And that message is: "Just because people may want change doesn't mean you don't have to work for their vote."

The Liberals expected to gain a ton of vote with no work at all. Their plan this year might have been worse than their disasterous "The rest of Canada can't be wrong" campaign of 1935.

The NDP are always going to be irrelevant in this province, and the Liberal name is a stain. Perhaps they should merge those parties under a new banner, close to or slightly left of where the Liberals are now

Your opinion.

Its not that I 'agree' with everything they have to say....but a diversity in Parliament is always a good thing.

I don't mean to split hairs but you have misunderstood what I meant about post secondary education. I consider trade school post secondary education, not just university, as it is typically done AFTER people leave high school. I mentioned nothing about Sociology and Psychology school, in fact you will see nothing in my post about university at all.

Also Calgary has the most post secondary degrees per capita than any other city in Canada, and despite what you think education is still quite reasonable relative to its actual cost. The problem is that we don't need more people in university, if anything we need more people in relevant programs. I mean, do we need more than a couple dozen Psyc and Sociology majors? This is a very educated province, but frankly the need for labour is accross the board. We don't need to shift everyone into post secondary schools, we need an ability to attract and develop more skilled labour into the province, frankly post secondary is just a portion of that.

And I'm not sure what your friends risk tolerance on mortgages or lack of vision have to do with anything, but if they can't support 30 years of payments, that is the individuals fault and nobody else's. I'll be there in 10 years to buy their house on a distressed basis.

You are right about one thing, infrastructure is way behind, but it is way behind in all of Canada, not an excuse but it's naive to think that this is a Alberta problem.

Boohoo.

Go cry in your corner about the media referring to the Liberals in a negative manner.

I'm sure you'll do the same thing when CBC calls the conservatives 'cons.'

Somehow I doubt that though. You'll probably have a party because of it.

It's only negative in your own mind. Libs is short hand for Liberals.

Tory is a name for the PC's (or the former Progressive Conservatives, federally). Research where Tory comes from.

Grits is the traditional name for the Liberal party federally (and it's trickled down to the Provincial level.

It's not irresponsible. It's technically the correct usage.

The alternative is to at least properly wrap the knuckles of the PCs so they get their act together. The Liberals and NDP are not good options in large numbers, but the dithering PC leadership is no better. From about 1999 onwards, they've been on autopilot and this election needed to be a kick in the ass.

The only good thing I can see coming of this is the end of the Taft Liberals, with (hopefully) centre-right economic views and an inspiring leader who could properly rip Ed to shreds.

Is the status quo bad? Its not good either. To quote Sutter, okay is not okay.

They shouldn't merge. The liberals should rebrand themselves, work their way closer to the center of the spectrum and get a leader that has a corporate background ... people with a corporate background tend to have a good grasp on practicality, which would give them some credibility.

I don't really want a left leader, but I wish they would put up a decent fight and be a competant opposition party that can push the PC's better.
