Brutal.

I believe Roger is guilty and he is looking like a fool for standing behind his weak statements, however this whole act should not be a govt. matter.

How much money is being wasted with these hearings. Any estimates as to how much salary is being spent during this charade? Is this a valuable use of time/money.
Come on Greyshep. It's entertainment. People are watching and the politicians are performing. Then you have the hero gone bad and the insidious provider of the evil illicit drugs. You have been around long enough to know that expecting politicians to do things based on whether the money is being well spent is comedy hour.

Better to be thankful. We have a never-ending supply of bozos to keep us entertained.

"If I am guilty of anything it is of being too trusting of everyone, wanting to see the best in everyone, being too nice to everyone," Clemens said.

LOL! I can't remember anyone accusing him of being "nice" before. Or maybe I am just misremembering things.

Beautiful!!!!

I just can't seem to find any part of me wanting to believe Clemens, why would Petitte lie about his best friend? And why would Mcnamee lie if all he had to do was tell the truth to get out of jail?

But Clemens is somewhat right in saying he has the hardest job in proving a negative, however, IMO the truth won't come out for years and years!

I am just curious, why is it that only baseball players that are having to testify is Clemens and Pettite? If I'm not mistaken, there are a lot more ball players who were named in the Mitchell Report, so do they have to testify eventually?

I am getting so sick and tired of this issue on the talk shows. I want it to go away, but I realize that isn't realistic.

Pettitte says sorry:

Sorry

I definitely respect the guy a lot more. I always liked him, but for some reason I really thought his honesty was refreshing, especially considering "he handled it like a man" and was totally truthful to the media and didn't have an ego while apologising (like the tone we got from Giambi). Considering the NY media, I'm very surprised he didn't have the "so what?" attitude we've come to see from bigname athletes doing anything wrong. He gets bonus points from me for going against Clemens.

Fraudger was at Jose's party:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...x.html?cnn=yes

According to the New York Daily News, federal investigators have a picture provided by a young man who was at the now infamous Jose Canseco house party in 1998 that reportedly shows definitively that another guest was there: Roger Clemens.

Clemens testified under oath both in a deposition to Congressional staffers and in a hearing before the House Oversight Committee that he did not attend the party, as alleged by his ex-trainer Brian McNamee, who has accused Clemens of taking steroids and HGH. Clemens has denied those allegations repeatedly.

I thought he backtracked after his Nanny testified that he was there.

Quote:
"Tom Davis (R-Va.) has made it clear that he is in Clemens' corner. After the recess he opened by bringing up the nanny issue as it regarded the Canseco luncheon. Davis was treading lightly around the subject, but suddenly Clemens let it drop that maybe he did stop by Canseco's house. After all the denials, Clemens basically said, 'Well, yeah, it's possible I could have stopped by Canseco's house, maybe dropped off the family, swung by after golf and before going to the ballpark....'
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...mcnamee/1.html

Although I would need to look at the transcripts to find out if "basically said" = "said"

But doesn't that pretty much admit perjury? Especially after the evidence he provided to prove he was playing golf at the same time (golf receipt). He can dig up a golf receipt, but not recall he went to the party? And wouldn't the nanny have told hime what she was going to say? Why would he maintain the charade?

Fraudger is going to get probed:

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/02/...ens/index.html

Leading members of the House of Representatives asked the Justice Department on Wednesday to probe whether baseball great Roger Clemens "committed perjury and made knowingly false statements" during a congressional hearing.

"Our only conclusion is that significant questions have been raised about Mr. Clemens' truthfulness and that further investigation by the Department of Justice is warranted."
