Things to do in Banff/Canmore ??

Hey, I'm taking some scottish friends out for a mountain drive to Canmore/Banff/Lake Louise, and although i've been there thousands of times, realize that I don't know what exactly to do there??

Any idea's are helpful!

Grizzly Paw Pub in Canmore is a great little spot for lunch.

Spray Lakes are worth the drive up past the Nordic Centre, just to see

I second Grizzly Paw in Canmore. It depends on what they like and their age, but the gondola, hot springs, Banff Springs Hotel/Bow Falls, ice skating at Chateau Lake Louise. There's no Scotish like pubs around here... there's always the 'Irish like' pub St. James Gate Winter is fairly boring if you don't ski/board around here.

During the intermission of the Kings/Flames game (on the LA station, as I'm down there this week) they were showing the Kings going for a team-building exercise in Canmore where they all went curling.

So go get drunk, go curling, then get drunk again. Just like the professionals!

I had the over/under for "hookers and blow" at 5 responses...not bad at all.

Drive up the Lake Minnewanka loop. It's mostly just more of the same scenery, but at least there's a dam you can drive across, and you can stop at the old mining town on the way (Bankhead) and walk around...again, this only works if the weather's nice, and if it's even open in the winter.

There's probably an ice castle on Lake Louise right now (call and check first).

Before about 11ish in the morning, the sun should be shining on it, spotlighting it. Take them skating on the lake, around the castle, through it, etc. That'll definitely be something they haven't done before.

Warming up over High Tea at the Chateau is about $40 bucks a pop.

The Smith Dorrien Trail to Upper K-Lake can be a nice drive, starting above Canmore.

If you are looking to do something active, you can rent cross-country skis at the Canmore Nordic Centre.

For sure. There's plenty of mutts to choose from at the Hoodoo or Aurora. While there you can hang in the bathrooms, and watch people get kicked out for getting a headstart on the "blow" aspect of "hookers and blow".

Scaring asians was always a lot of fun. I'm not sure how many Japanese go there anymore, but it was pretty comical to chase them down the streets after a few cocktails. I would also highly recommend:

- knocking on random hotel doors late at night
- stealing shopping carts
- stealing fire extinguishers
- loading your friend into a shopping cart, roll down main street while setting off the fire extinguisher
- spend a night (or 2 if you don't get kicked out) at tunnel mountain with a group of buddies
- crash a fashion show
- get chased by security guards while on a skateboard
- Go for late night eats at Aardvark, and yell at the people behind the counter like the other 100 drunkards

And most importantly, have an alias ready in case you get caught by an authority.

Ha. Aardvarks and security guard are common ones for me. During construction they had these 20 foot orange plastic pipes stored on a side street. As we were watching oldschool Gladiators earlier in the evening, so we had a nice game of Joust.
