Ah yes... should have noted your avatar. I just mean to say that in the former Yugoslavia Serbians did not dominate over Croatians like Russians did over Ukrainians in the USSR. In fact, Tito was Croatian.

Why do the Kurds "deserve a state of their own"? They should be bombed out of existence:

They're just as fundamentalist as the Taliban. Just ask what Ansar al-Islam, a Kurdish Islamic fundamentalist group funded by Iran which has links to the Turkish Hezbollah and Al-Qaeda, thinks of democracy and a secular Iraq.

In that respect, the analogy would not be appropriate. There wasn't an outright domination, but in the later years of Yugoslavia, the government was controlled by Serbian nationalists and there was an attempt of cultural suffocation. The problem was that Croatia was still the economic hub of Yugoslavia and had power for that reason.

To many Croats, Tito was a traitor... but that's openning up a can of worms.

Looks like the situation is getting a little more violent... Today, Serbian mobs infiltrated and destroyed the U.S. embassy:

They also attacked the Croatian embassy even though Croatia has not officially recognized Kosovo.

Something tells me that this will be turning very ugly soon. Some lasting scars for everyone involved.

To be fair, the article you quoted mentions several times that this was done by a minority religious group in Kurdish Iraq (the Yazidi), who seem to be the main culprits. Tough to paint a whole people as deserving to be 'bombed out of existence' based on this article. People have been beaten up and killed in North America for being gay... and not just one time.

And if they're really a people who should be bombed out of existence, why are they among the best allies the US has there?

Russia has threatened to use military force if the Kosovo situation isn't corrected in Serbia's favour. They are likely just spewing hot air, but nonetheless, this is really causing a larger rift between east-west relations.
