I've never been to the Olive Garden, but can it possibly be any worse than Boston Pizza? It is somewhat of an embarrassment to me that BP is the most prevalent restaurant chain in Calgary (18 outlets!) I swear if you go through the dumpster in the back you will find it full of Michelina's pasta boxes and McCain's pizza boxes.

It's like dining in the kitchen of a delightful Italian stereotype!

No there aren't. They had my fave burger of all time - the Banzai Burger. Whenever I go down to the U.S. I try to stop at Red Robyns if I have time.

Pizza delight is great for kids. It's in the SW off 162nd. Pretty decent food but the best part is the toy room with chalk board, tv, coloring books and other junk. Really kid friendly.

Hotels can be good for this.
Never tried any of them in Calgary, but places like the sheraton, westin etc. tend to have decent restaurants in other citries and I always see kids there.
I've stayed at a hilton with the kids and it worked out pretty well at that particular restaurant.

Boston Pizza is great for my 2 young ones. BP's always brings the kids meals out as soon as they can which is great because my kids are finished destroying their coloring page by that time!
Ah Red Robins......i miss the mushroom burger....."you won't have mushroom for any thing else!"

I don't really like Earls. Milestones is fairly loud and they give the kids their own crayons, coloring books, and have a good kids menu.

I am the only one who asks the waitress for crayons when I'm at Montana's so I can draw pictures on the table myself, never mind any kids?
The best kid story I have at a restaurant is when my buddy and I were at McDonald's years back, and this kid at the next table kept looking over at him and waving and smiling. So he, being the friendly type (as well as the rather vain type, which enters into this), waves and smiles back, and makes with the goofy faces, until the kid says to his mother: "Mom, mom, look! Look at the ugly man!"

Boston Pizza is one step up from McDonalds as far as food quality goes. It's Burger King for the 20-30 crowd.

Joey's Only Seafood can be decent?
Some (Crowfoot or Country Hills) are nicer then others (Macleod Trail or Motel Village)?
A lot of people don't realize you can get the fish poached, fried, grilled, cajun/blackened, garlic buttered, etc instead of fried.
They have a kids menu and the type of in-store set-up that allows kids to be messy without much concern?
Claeren.

I remember going there many moons ago as a kid and thought it was the living end. The food could be second rate dog chow and the kids will still have a blast.

Anyone been to the new Japanese Village? I remember going there alot as a kid, I wonder if it is still kid-friendly.
Anyone been to the Bow Bulgogi House ?
|
Bow Bulgogi house is good, at least it was the last time I was back in town a couple of years ago. It's basically garlic-y marinated bbqed meat so it shouldn't be too tough for a kid, and the prices are reasonable. IIRC correctly they also have an assortment of noodle dishes, as well.
I have never been to Japanese village in my life, so I can't comment but I don't think they've changed their business model in over twenty years so I imagine it would be the same teppan grilled meat and veg show it always is. As a kid I loved going for chinese food and always would bug my mom to take us to places like Silver Dragon or Ho Won for dinner.
