I just heard someone claim the other day that if you scribble over the permanent marker with a dry erase pen, and then use the dry erase eraser, it removes it.

try nail polish remover (I don't know though if it'll damage the board)

Use ordinary white toothpaste. It contains a very mild abrasive and is water soluble. Plus, it will leave your whiteboard minty fresh!

Spray 9 will do the trick but for stuff you have around the house, elbow grease and mr. clean.

It depends what kind of marker was used. Sharpies are designed to be dissolved by rubbing alcohol . I don't know how it would work on a dry-erase board.

I've done this - it works to varying degrees of success. It acts a solvent really.

That worked for me.

It didn't work for getting the hi-lighter marks off though....

My wife assures me that this'll work on the dry-erase board.

Paint thinner is a good one but lacquer thinner will work even better.

any strong alcohol will certainly work; rubbing alcohol will work; vodka

it is also the best way to clean your white board of any residual streaks and give it a 'brand new' look

Rubbing alcohol should work considering that's what we used to remove sharpie writing from glass test tubes and stuff in my university chem/bio labs.

Default White Boards & Permanent Markers

So one of my co-workers got a new white board a month or two ago. The poor chap grabbed the wrong pen and wrote in permanent marker. Is there a safe way to remove the permanent marking without ruining the surface of the white board?
