When the investigators finally tracked Triplette down at his home in the 24000 block of Amador Street, he told arresting officers he was sorry.

When asked why he made the calks, he replied: "Because it's free."

I read that earlier today...That's awesome, if for no other reason than the sheer number of times he got away with it before he got caught.

why did the authorities wait until he had done it 27000 times? I would think a few times would warrant a warning; 10-20 times would be grounds for a fine or arrest for some kind of misdemeanor

He must have been burned pretty bad on the "Exotic Call Girl" lines and exceeded his monthly telephone budget.

I call BS. The guy would have had to have called 89 times per day. Not possible. An investigation would have been launched and he would have been busted a lot earlier than that.

I think I might head down to Hayward County and start a bit of a crime wave.

If it takes Deputy Dog 27 thousand tries to nab the prank-caller and one guy with a cell phone can "overwhelm the system" then I'm sure I can get away with quite a bit before the Po-Po catch up with me. Probably won't get caught until I try to steal the sheriff's shoes and even then I might be able to sneak away.
