Default Random question - HMS Host

Okay, this has been driving me nuts and since I've been unable to figure it out, I thought I'd pose the question to the CP community.

I travel quite a bit for work and when I dine at HMS Host-owned restaurants or bars at airports, no matter what airport it is, the server always puts a little tear in the side of my receipt before handing it to me.

I've asked them why they do this (not in an irritated way, just curious) and they say "Company policy." It's driving me nuts. Not that they tear the receipt, but that I can't figure out what purpose it would serve. What kind of a company policy is this? It's my copy! Why do they do it?! Anyone here work for HMS Host or know the answer to this mystery?

That is kind of odd. For the life of me I really can't think of a practical reason someone would do that. I guess for now the only logic explanation is that its a stonecutters insider thing. Try giving them a nod and a secret handshake and see what happens.

I see that they also operate some licensed concept Starbucks. Do you know if they do it at those locatations or just the bars/restaurants?

Good question, I haven't purchased anything at their Starbucks. I may have to...

If they do end up doing it at starbucks I might be able to help you out because my wife works out of the head office here in Calgary and knows a few of the people that deal with license concept stores.

I have wondered why they do this for years as well.
