Lightning strike in the Wild
Tampa have landed the #1 dman they have been looking for.
Brian McCabe is on the way to the Bolts in exchange for Kronwall and Oshie.
The Lightning have been biding their time waiting for some players to prove themselves. Kronwall has done that this season in Detroit and is likely a player on the rise but McCabe helps us now and in the future. Oshie is the wildcard in the deal as he could turn out to have a game that is well suited to the new NHL. Time will tell.

I missed out on Kronwall by 10 minutes apparently. I like this deal a lot for Grant, but at the same time it was necessary for Tampa Bay to make a move and McCabe is able to put points up on the board.
This one should work well for everyone involved.

I like this deal for the Wild a bunch too. Kronvall is a top 4Dman on a consistently awesome Detroit team. Oshie is a great prospect in the blues system and should be a solid CPHL contributer. McCabe has been injured half the year, while he has a nice rating the guy can not play D.
With that in mind, TB did have a boatload of youth so it is probably best for them to package some up for one stud cphl player, just not sure I'm a fan of McCabe.

I kind of like it for Minny too. McCabe is better in the sim, for now, but I feel like he's on his way down. Kronwall has a ton of potential and should be rated similar to McCabe by next season. Then take into account the contracts they have and Kronwall looks to be just as valuable.

I think the G-unit has always had a soft spot for Kronwall. He had him before but probley gave up on him after getting injured so many times. I think this deal is pretty even. Way more even than G's last two deals that involved Kronwall.
Florida Panthers
Guenin, Nathan (D)
Ahonen, Ari (G)
Tobin, Mark (LW)
Minnesota Wild
Kronwall, Niklas (D)
Brown, Mike (G)
Or this bad boy here. Not sure who the Florida GM was at the time but im pretty sure his bum is still a bit sore.
Minnesota Wild
Gill, Hal (D)
Reinprecht, Steve (C)
Regehr, Richie (D)
2005 3rd Round Draft Choice (bos)
Florida Panthers
Spezza, Jason (C)
Kronwall, Niklas (D)
Kalinin, Dimitri (D)

This is actually the third time I've acquired Kronwall - originally I traded for him from Doug I think who had him in Carolina.
But yeah he was a frustrating prospect because he kept on suffering major injuries including one time when he broke his ass.

correct, in fact I can't remember who but i really don't think it was for much at all either. at the time I had a lot of low valued youth that wasn't (and was far away) from becoming NHL players.

The deal seems to make sense for both teams. TB needs some top end talent and Grant has the depth to take on a guy like Kronwall who looks like he will finally get that high rating but still has that history of injuries and isn't quite there yet.
I think if Mccabe played for another team than the Leafs his so-called lack of defensive skills might not be such an issue for some. He is a great defenseman and will make TB a better team.

Marc Chouinard and Brad Brown
Brown hung around my team for a good bit becoming a solid 6 D man... he was one of those guys I liked having in my lineup as I felt more security then his OV or real life persona was.
Chouinard, no clue what I seen in him maybe I though Grant said Guy as in Guy Chouinard lol

Yeah, I remember in 04-05 with the lockout young players had pretty much zero value. It was a bad year to be a team who was good enough to win...You had to make ######ed trades that you knew were ######ed in terms of real life player value in order to make your team better. I piddled away so many good assets trying to win that year that I all but ruined the leagues impending Oiler dynasty. Than again...I sleep quite well at night knowing the Oilers would be more dominant had I not done something about it. Oilers = Success is just a gross thought.

I remember Cheese busting Grants chops about that deal at the time. His team was a mediocre patch together veteran squad that had totally over achieved. That was the type of deal that fixed his team for like ever. But in those days no one else would trade a 75 OV guy for Spezza who was a 70 OV with a 57SC despite the age difference. Any deal made that season looks ######ed now for one of the teams invloved.

Well that GM did a lot more good than harm to the Panthers in the long run.
Martin though....Peter Meuller and James Sheppard to LA for Tony Salmainen, David Leneveu, and Mark Stuart. Thats the Risebrough award right there.
