Oh my god. I can't believe this is happening again. I just turned on CNN and can't believe it. This has got to stop.

I'm reading conflicting reports as to whether or not the gunman is dead.
Apparently there are 3 confirmed deaths so far, unfortunately.

Wow. This is getting out of hand. The problem is, not much can be done when there's millions of college students in the States, all with their own general agenda.

How long until video games or rap music are blamed?

CNN confirming the gunman is dead. Unsure if it is suicide or by someone else. Hopefully my kids will not have to worry about this when they are that age.

They just said on Headline News that they have reports of 5 people with head injuries right now. Tragic.

The gunman who opened fire in Cole Hall, a lecture building, is dead according to DeKalb police, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the DeKalb County coroner's office said no fatalities had been immediately reported.
A local hospital tells CNN affiliate CLTV that it expects to receive 15 patients and have so far treated at least two.
CLTV reports that Kishwaukee Medical Center in DeKalb is currently treating six people with head wounds.
Crazy stuff. Six pepole shot in the head but not dead? Maybe it was some sort of air pistol or something.
edit: Wait a sec, they just said on CNN 4 shot, 15 injured. He must have had another weapon?

The article now says the only fatality is the gunman?

They say the shooter had a shotgun. I guess he was too far away or something?

That would explain the head wound survivors.
Its hard to kill someone with a shotgun when your shooting from a distance.
I think and someone can correct me, but the pellet dispersal rate is 1 foot of dispersal for every 10 feet of firing distance.
but don't quote me on that

Most of the 13 wounded were shot in the head, said Theresa Comitas, spokeswoman for Kishwaukee Community Hospital, located about 10 minutes from the school.

Frick.
I have a friend who went to University of Illinois-Urbana, and that's what I thought the OP meant but the thread title is wrong; this event occurred at Northern Illinois University.

I don't know about the testicle shooting, but it would be nice if they were able to nab one of these nuts (no pun intended).
It'd be interesting, after all the bullets have stopped flying and the person is coaxed back into reality, to hear what the guy has to say for himself.
This is pretty simplistic, but it seems to me these guys have some sort of idea in their head that they'll kill all these people and their own self and then they'll be up there somewhere cackling away at all the misery they caused to their tormentors, and how they'll go down in history.
Someone has to convince these kids that they are going to be in a hole in the ground, and everyone will forget about them. That's it. Atheism for everyone! It's for the children.

A lot depends upon the choke and the guage.
1ft per 10 feet doesn't seem quite right to me, only because I've seen a shotgun turn a clay pigeon to powder at quite a distance, but I'm just guessing.

Depends on a lot of things.
Size of the pellets, desing of the choke in the barrel, and the length of the barrel itself.
Edit: Oops bobble beat me to it.
Oh well.
Point is it's tough to say.
