What is with Rocker anyways? He somehow keeps getting himself promoted as a topic of discussion every year or so ever since he has been out of baseball.

Lawyers for Brian McNamee, the trainer who has accused ex-client Roger Clemens of using performance-enhancing drugs, today released photos purporting to show syringes, blood-specked gauze pads, and drug vials used by the embattled baseball star.

Brian McNamee injected Roger Clemens with performance-enhancing drugs more often than he previously claimed, the pitcher's former personal trainer said Wednesday at the start of their high-stakes testimony before Congress.
"I have helped taint our national pastime," McNamee said.
McNamee told baseball investigator George Mitchell that he injected Clemens 16 to 21 times with steroids and human growth hormone from 1998-01. McNamee also said that Yankees teammates Andy Pettitte and Chuck Knoblauch used HGH.
Committee chairman Henry Waxman questioned the credibility of McNamee, a former New York City police officer, saying he lied to police seven years ago during an investigation of a possible rape. And he challenged the credibility of Clemens.
"We have found conflicts and inconsistencies in Mr. Clemens' account. During his deposition, he made statements that we know are untrue," Waxman said, adding that some of Clemens' statements "are simply implausible."
"Make no mistake: When I told Sen. Mitchell that I injected Roger Clemens with performance-enhancing drugs, I told the truth. I told the truth about steroids and human growth hormone. I injected those drugs into the body of Roger Clemens at his direction. Unfortunately Roger has denied this and led a full-court attack on my credibility. And let me be clear, despite Roger Clemens' statements to the contrary, I never injected Roger Clemens -- or anyone else -- with lidocaine or B-12."
In the affidavit, Pettitte said that Clemens told him nearly 10 years ago that he used HGH. Pettitte also said Clemens backtracked when the subject of HGH came up again in conversation in 2005, before the same House committee held the first hearing on steroids in baseball.
Pettitte said in the affidavit that he asked Clemens in 2005 what he would do if asked about performance-enhancing substances, given his admission years earlier. Pettitte said Clemens responded by saying Pettitte misunderstood the previous exchange in 1999 or 2000 and that, in fact, Clemens had been talking about HGH use by his wife in the original conversation.

At least one member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform said he already has a pretty good idea of who's lying.
And by the time Clemens and McNamee walk out of the Rayburn House Office Building on Wednesday, Rep. Stephen Lynch, D-Mass., one of the more outspoken members of the committee, said that he expects to have formulated his final opinion.

Yeah that is very apparent with a couple of these guys. Wow, talk about being blinded by fandom. You would think guys like this would be able to look past the celebrity.

^^ According to what Jim Rome said on his show this morning, Pettitte used HGH one more time in 2004, and got his dad to get it for him.

From SI.com's Jon Heyman: "The House Committee so far is splitting along party lies. Through their tough questioning of Clemens, the Democrats are showing support for McNamee's position, while Republicans have shown support for Clemens' denials. It seems that Republicans and Democrats have a tough time agreeing on many things, including Clemens."

It is interesting seeing the reporters (or in this scenario, bloggers) own bias.

McNamee: Nothing to gain or lose by telling the truth or by lying
Clemens : If he is guilty he has no reason to tell the truth. If he is innocent he has no reason to lie.
Both have been caught in inconsistencies. But Clemens has no reason to lie if he is innocent.
Doctors have all said it a B12 injection won't cause the issues Clemens says a B12 shot caused
Andy Petite says Clemens told him Roger took HGH. Roger says he misheard/misremembered.
Clemens said he had never spoke to McNamee about HGH, yet later said he got in a heated debate with McNamee about HGH shots given to Clemens' wife.
These lies are making the Rocket look more and more guilty.

Yeah, Roger said his wife had a bad reaction to HGH that caused circulation problems.
Quote:
Clemens' testimony that he told friend and former workout partner Pettitte in 2005 that their discussion in 1999 and 2000 was about his wife Debbie's HGH usage, not Clemens' own usage, even though Clemens also acknowledged that Debbie didn't take HGH until 2003.

RE Roger's ass (from the liveblog):
In a case that seems to rely so heavily on one man’s word against another’s, Lynch focused on one of the few pieces of physical evidence we have: the abscess. In 1998, while playing in Toronto, Clemens developed a painful abscess on his posterior -— according to the medical record, it was, “a palpable mass on the right buttock of Mr. Clemens.” Clemens claimed it was from a B-12 shot. McNamee claimed it was from steroids.
An MRI was taken, though, and the committee was (after some wrangling with Clemens’ lawyers, according to Lynch) granted a copy of it.
Lynch said the committee showed the MRI to doctors, including a Dr. Taylor, who had previously given Clemens B-12 shots. Dr. Taylor said it was unlikely that such a mass was caused by a B-12 shot. Another expert in the field said that, though he could not be definitive, the abscess was compatible with injections of Winstrol, a steroid. The Toronto trainer and assistant trainer both said that they had never seen B-12 shots leave that kind of reaction.
B-12, of course, is the fall-back excuse for anyone who is suspected of using steroids. Think Miguel Tejada. But in this case, there’s a physical record and testimony from multiple experts that seems to indicate that whatever Clemens was shooting into his behind, it was not B-12.

And now there is "Nannygate". The suggestion that Clemens tampered with a witness by not giving the committee her name until after he had spoken with her.
Clemens said he didn't go to a party Canseco held; that he was golfing. He even offered up a receipt. Now it comes out that the golf course was next door to Canseco's home.
Although I don't think there is anything else that Clemens can do other than deny, deny, deny - he's gone too far.
