The British theatrical trailer was just released, too:

Similar to the other trailer milesflames posted, but with some different footage.

I can't see how they will be doing this as a movie. The books were too wild, too crazy, too far out there, AND THERE WAS FIVE OF THEM!

Maybe if Peter Jackson did them...

That's not the meaning of life. It's the ANSWER to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. They're different.

My guess is that this movie is only the first book. Maybe they'll do more in the future.

Well, The trailer to the movie looks great ,and considering how some of you are raving about the books I am going to my local bookstore in search of a couple right after work.

that is the best idea I've heard on this board in a while. . They have all 5 together in one volume nowadays, which is probably the best one to get.

I love the look of the animations along with Stephen Fry's voice--I'm getting such high hopes about this one, I might even end up being one of the geeks lining up on opening day.

Here's a short review:

http://planetmagrathea.com/shortreview.html

There's a link to a spoiler filled long review in there as well. This guy wasn't too happy with how it turned out.

That's really disappointing. I was really looking forward to this movie. The books are amazingly funny, and the trailer looked really cool, so I figured it would be awesome. I can't believe they would re-write the plot and dialogue...

Apparently not everyone who has seen the movie hated it
though. He even refers to the review above:

Good Review

I am so pumped up for this movie. I also recently found out the trilogy has 5 parts instead of 4 (4 being the version I read). As long the movie is better than the British TV show, this fan will be happy.

Yeah, but it's the narration that makes the book so good, and both reviews say that the narration takes a big hit in the movie. I just can't see it even comparing with the book.

What movie does though?

Picked up the trilogy in 5 parts set from Chapters not too long ago. You can get all 5 books in a nice case for $35 ... hell of a bargain if you ask me.
