CP Book Club - Feb 9th, 2 PM, Kensington Pub
The votes are in and the time decided, so here is the breakdown:
Time: 2 PM
Date: Feb 9th
Place: Kensington Pub
Book: Libra - Don Delillo
If you are looking for some insight on how to understand the book deeply enough in order to discuss it, see here.
All are welcome (well - as long as you've actually read the book). I will be there a bit early, so you can come look for me to find the right table - I'll be the tall dude with the dark hair who looks a lot like my CP avatar pic, and I'll have my copy of the book. I'll also wear one of my Flames shirts as well, so you should have no trouble finding me. See you there!

Oh yah - and maybe just drop a note here so I can guesstimate how many will come.

I picked up the book today. Wow what a behemoth. I honestly have no idea how I am going to read this in, what, 3 weeks? I'll do my best.
But I'll show up to the meeting. Should be good. Plus I wanna get in on picking the next book.

I am not having time to really dive into this book, with the school term starting up, and all that.
I will come to the meeting no matter how much I've finished, but if others are in the same situation maybe we can delay the get-together for a week or two?

We'll do a poll a week before and see how people are doing.

How's everyone else doing on this? I'm right at half-way. I can push through the rest if we're going to go ahead and meet this week. But my preference would be to have another week to finish it.

Well, the only problem is that I'm going to California on the 16th, so if it's pushed off another week, I won't make it, nor the week after.
There's a game on Friday and Tuesday next week, and Thursday is Valentine's Day, so the only day that would work is Wednesday the 13th, unless people want to have the bookclub meeting early and then watch the game after.
I'd be ok with having the meeting on Friday the 15th at 5:30 or something - or alternatively on Sunday the 24th when I get back, although since I read the book last month I'll probably have forgotten most of it by then...
Edit: And Friday nights Firefly said she could come, so we can ruin her one night out by getting her to attend!

I ran into a wall at school, so busy with things. I'd have to extend it for a while so have the meeting without me! Just pick a smaller book next time for crying out loud. Actually, lets have the picking of the next book on CP so those who want to come can be involved.

Wednesday doesn't work for me, unfortunately. I say we can either we keep it where it is, or have it on the 15th. If anyone else can't make the fifteenth, let's keep it on this Saturday; I'll do my best to get it done. How many people do we have? Jammies, Octothorp, Aeneas, Redvan, and maybe Firefly?

If you're having it the 15th, let me know so I can actually get the book and come with.

aww man, I feel like a moron. I completely double-booked myself; I have a poetry reading that afternoon and my wife's organizing it, so if I don't participate, it's not going to go over well at all... any chance of changing it to the 15th still?

Yes, we'll have it on the 15th - same place, at 5:30 PM. Otherwise it'll be me and Aeneas...

We had the picking of the last book on CP in the original thread, I'm not sure where you were at the time. That being said, we might as well ask for suggestions again already, as it'll give time for everyone to mull over their choices. I'm not suggesting any this time, as I suggested last time.
So anyone who wants to, make some suggestions. We'll take them to the meeting and narrow it down to 4 picks, then there can be a vote on those 4.
