21 degrees from 6am-8am, 18 during the day, and back up to 21 from 5pm to 10pm.

I love my thermostat - besides being programmable, it has a nice touch screen interface, and it also learns how long it takes to reach each programmed temperature change. So when I get home at five, the furnace is off because it's already started around 4:30 or so to bring the temperature back up.

We have a programmable thermostat at our new place. The old owners didn't leave the manual so we're kinda monkeying around with it right now (have to look up the manual online). They had it set kinda wonky. Usually it's 21 during the day and 17 at night. Except their "day" and "night" start at odd times and it's different for different days of the week. Can't really figure out what they got going on there...

We have it set at 20 pretty much all the time until we get the above straightened out.

In our old place, we rented the basement and some other guy had the upstairs. The temperature difference between floors could be as much as 10 degrees. They'd be baking upstairs in the dead of winter and we'd have ice on our walls. At least it killed off most of the spiders.

13 at night

18.5 during the day.

My wife makes me turn it up higher when we have guests over.

Gee, I'm guessing you don't have a woman living with you, or if you do she really bundles up. My wife wouldn't tolerate 19 when she's home. Generally, my house is 21 when occupied and we're up and 17 at night and during the day when we're at work. We were just away in Palm Springs and I set it to 14 for almost a week and the house was really cold when we got home last night.

Reminds me of what a friend is going through over at the place she shares/rents. The landlord lives with them and keeps the place freezing, the 2 girls are miserable and always trying to turn the heat up, he just walks by and turns it down again and again

A while ago they take the cover off the thermostat and find a small screw in place preventing the lever from going above 15. They had a big talk with him and he then allowed them to turn on the fireplace once in a while. 1 week later the fireplace is "out of order", he must have just turned the gas off.

Feel pretty bad for those girls, must be horrible when you're freezing cold all the time and the guys here know how women like it nice and warm.

The cheapskate is out of control.

Do they have access to the furnace? If so, you could try using a paperclip like MacGyver to to make a short where the wires from the thermostat reach the furnace so it turns on without having to adjust the thermostat. Don't ask me how we figured it out but it beat waking up the Upstairs Guy to get him to turn up the heat in the middle of the night.

When we moved to our new house, they recommended to find a constant temperature as apparently that is more efficient because the furnace doesnt have to fire up and go full blast to gain that 3 degrees or whatever you put it down to. Plus we have a fire place if it starts to get a little chilly. But we keep it at 21, sometimes bump it to 21.5.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.
