They were probably too busy loading up the manure and stocking the eggs to drive down to Houston to pay a visit to Hank's home...

At least one did, a guy who could hardly wait until Iginla signed somewhere else for more money just to teach us a lesson.

As if to say it's a lesson we already haven't experienced? Lord, grow up. Someone needs to tell that loser to stop dumping manure on nice grassy lawns.

Totally disagree No ID
The guy is 100% right.
There is a competetive unbalance developing in the CFL.
The Stamps, Eksimos, Agos, and Lions are acting just like Stars, Rangers, Flyers, Avalanche etc......
We are just on the other side of the fence so we dont see this.
If the Leafs signed Jarome Iginla to a 12 million dollar/year contract and Calgary got nothing in return everyone in this city would start bitching and complaining about how Sports is unfair blah blah blah.....
I know we have been through it like u said, but still there would be complaining and you and I would be front and center...

CRAP on that, in the CFL is hard to pick the teams that are not over the cap. Do you actually think the Riders were not over the cap last year? Don't forget to add Montreal and Hamilton to your list. Oh wait who does that leave. The team I feel bad for is Ottawa. They don't stand a chance.
As for Iggy, oh please when was the last offer sheet sent to a RFA? I can't remember that far back.

The last I checked every team in the CFL was over the "salary cap"
Also, Henry Burris was a free agent and could sign wherever he wanted. Calgary cleared out some salary (dropped Joe Flemming, Wes Lysak, Wayne McGarity, Khari Jones....) to make room for Burris. Calgary overpaid and Saskatchewan didn't want to.

Yep definite crap on that... we dumped ALOT of salary and we woo-ed some better players than we had before. What is wrong with that?

You totally misunderstood me man. I wasn't trying to suggest that there wasn't a competitive unbalance forming in the CFL at all. I can see it just like you can. But that guy saying to me that he wants to see Iginla sign with another team just so we know what that feeling is like? Are you kidding me? I know what that feeling is like. Theo Fleury anyone? Al MacInnis anyone? Joe Nieuwendyk anyone? Mike Vernon anyone? Those are the guys I idolised as young guy and seeing them go broke my heart. I hated it. So don't try to suggest to me that I don't know what that feeling is like.
Once the core of our cup team was ripped from us, there really was nothing left for other teams to pillage us for. Over that time period, I've grown up. The players used to mean something to me. That's not the case anymore. I've seen them come and go and it really has no effect on me now. If Iginla were to do as you suggested, it wouldn't get me upset at all. I'd be more than glad to see him go if he wants to. I've already formed a negative opinion of what he believes in and the message he is sending to the fans of our team. You want a free market why Jarome? So Calgary can't afford you. So go then and prove to me what I already believe. I won't miss him for a second.

I listened to the whole interview and was disgusted with the many rider fans who phoned in to whine.
Calgary release lots of guys who were making six figures. They got rid of at least $800,000 in salaries to free up money to sign the 4 free agents they wanted. Burris said he even gave the Riders a lower offer than Calgary but they didn't want to accept it. If they wanted him that bad, they should have found a way to free up some money by releasing a player. Why would a team that says they can't compete financially with the rest of the league pay top dollar to 2 QB's? If they signed Burris and he gets the starter position, then they'd be paying thier backup 6 figures to stand on the sideline.
