One thing I will say is that once I buy a new cord no thieve will be able to steal it. I might also attach 500 little bells on it so when buddy decideds that he needs a new cord to brighten up his day I will hear him and that will be the end of him.

Sounds like all three of you need 50 footers tucked under your hoods. The extra minute it takes to pop the hood guarantees the cord aint going nowhere overnight.
BTW, home depot is selling 50 footers for $20.

Sorry to hear about your cords.
On a completely unrelated matter, I am currently selling 3 extension cords. Good as new!

Plug the car in and then pull forward over the cord with your tire. Used to do this all the time to stop petty thieves when I lived in an apartment bldg.

No, it's not normal for people living in a condo to play loud music late at night. Terrible comparison between disturbances of the peace and taking steps to protect one's property though.

I grew up on a farm, my parents own and live on a quater section. We have never had anything stolen from our property other than once or twice someone stole some fuel from our gas tanks over a 25 year period.

My relatives still on the family farm have had stuff taken on various occasions - fuel most prominently, but an ATV, some tools, other stuff as well.

Yeah, it sucks that a seemingly innocuous, utilitarian, not-very-valuable item like a power cord gets nicked. That it got taken at the exact time it was most needed would be infuriating.
Sorry 'bout the havin' fun at your expense part...

I grew up in a small farming community as well, and that reminds me of a story I recently heard about one of the guys back there. Keep in mind this guy is one of those longhaired country boy types. Apparently he became wise to some guys who were stealing gas from him in the middle of the night ... not just a little either as they were filling up a slip tank in the back of their half ton. They had just finished filling it when they heard the spine-chilling sound of a shotgun being racked and a voice in the dark asking them whether would be "cash or credit card". As they had neither they apparently decided to accept the guy's invitation to wait until the police showed up.
