Americans desperate for Canadian tv shows
CBS picks up Canadian drama
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servl...rtainment/home
If Americans think the television shows they view now are crap, wait until they get a load of the stuff we're sending them.

I've always thought Corner Gas was a great show, but with much of the humour so Canadian-centric I'm not sure it would go over well without the background knowledge.

CBC should let them air "The Border", give them a wake up call to what kind of idiots Canadians think they have working at Homeland Security.

Apparently you didn't read the article.

If the strike drags on, industry watchers predict other conventional broadcasters will try to stock their programming shelves with other Canadian-made shows. Strong contenders are rumoured to include The Listener (a series from Shaftesbury Films about a telepathic young paramedic picked up last December by CTV, and now apparently on NBC's radar) as well as CBC-TV's new drama, The Border (currently being actively pitched at the trade convention for TV executives in Las Vegas this week).

It's already airing on WGN in the States.
I don't know how well it's doing, but I've read a few reviews from American viewers, and it seems to be well received.

I think Corner Gas might play well in wider release in the States. Sell it as Seinfeld in the sticks - the best episodes of Corner Gas fit that description IMO.

I thought Corner Gas was already picked up by some network in the States. I remember someone mentioning that is a thread sometime last year.

It's a British actor doing an American accent. Yes, the US public sure is expanding its horizons!

I have seen ads in Australia for Corner Gas on DVD, I don't think it plays on regular 'cable' here though. I have also seen Trailer Park Boys here on DVD. And on Foxtel I think it is possible to view Kenny vs. Spenny and Degrassi: The Next Generation and who knows what else.
Best Canadian show ever was the Buckshot Show (in particular the episode featuring me), followed closely by Kingo Blackout Bingo hosted by Don Wood.

I enjoy Corner Gas, my Father in Law from Lethbridge bought me the first season DVD. I havent been watching much on WGN, due to not wanting to get out of sequence.
Being from a small town in northeastern Montana 50 miles below Saskatchewan, its pretty easy for me to "get it." Folks from larger metro areas, I'm not so sure.
There are also tons of childrens and Discovery Channel type programs we inherit from Canada.

Square One was Canadian, I believe.
Was Due North Canadian as well? I think that had a following in the States, right?

Flashpoint will become the first Canadian series since CTV's Due South in 1994 to air in network prime time in both Canada and the United States.
