I highly doubt that Canada Customs has a denied entry alert because their music is too violent.

There's a more valid reason.

Hell we have the most violent artists in North America. Bryan Adam's, Celine Dion, they've all caused hate fueled violence and mass destruction of property . . . because they suck.

All joking aside, the reason sounds like the side of the story from the group. I'm sure that some drug related issues caused the problem.

I wouldnt doubt if there are other reason.

But Canada Customs censors books from coming into Canada when they hit the border so its not a far stretch that they would do the same with music and musicians.

Quote:
Little Sister's legal troubles date to 1985, when Canada Customs (now the Canada Border Services Agency) stopped a shipment of books on its way to the store because of concerns over the sexual nature of the material. The bookstore alleged censorship and discrimination against gays and lesbians. Thus began what would become a long history of court battles and legal bills (totalling between $1-million and $2-million, Deva estimates).
Google the name of the bookstore and you will find a ton of info.

Canada is not a free nation!

Hey if Canada Customs can start keeping untalented rock bands out of Canada, you can line me up in the whole "Give em a raise" category.

Actually, Canada is a very free nation. I can experience just about anything I want here. Some things are considered illegal but the punishment for most things is rather mild. Other things (Child Porn) carry punishments that should be higher in severity.

Personally, I'm for selective censorship. Believing that full, unregulated free speech is compatible in our society is rather naive, in my opinion.

Very likely chance it was due to marijuana possession. If they were anything East Coast from the 90's, it was bound to be the case.

On second thought, I agree with you. I remember back in the 8th grade for the Raekwon/Ghostface concert it got cancelled for the same reason.

They came back a coupld months later though, but some Gangsta native threw a glass on stage and almost hit Ghostface so they ended the show early.

I've never seen 5 people flee an area so fast in my life (The Gangsta Natives), they have like 2000-3000 fans ready to beat the crap out of them.

That show was crazy man

But they've also had a bit of trouble shaking the "thug" tag entirely, especially after member Flesh-n-Bone was sent to prison for threatening someone with an AK-47.

Don't feel bad for them. The publicity will result in the sale of thousands of CDs.

So are we to believe that Canada customs officials not only know who Bone Thugs and Harmony are, but that they are also knowledgeable of their lyrics?

How hard is it to figure out the lyrics. To be honest, all of them sound the same with the byatches and the bling, and the gat.

I would have way more respect for the hip hop community if they had a more positive message then talking about the life of the rich and easy.

Oh really? And who is to decide what speech is "acceptable" or not? You? The thought police?? What about free speech makes it "incompatible" with "our" society (by "our" I assume you mean those people NOT being forcibly censored)?

"Im all for the government using coercive means to suppress speech that I dont like or agree with. Anyone who thinks otherwise is NAIVE."

*shudder*
