Good place for lunch downtown
So CP, I am going to meet a friend downtown for lunch either tomorrow or Friday, and I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions. She just moved here from Montreal, so I kind of want to show her around a bit.
Time will be a factor, as she has to be back around 1. In talking to her today, she seems to be close to TD square, so anywhere around that area would be perfect.
The Devonian Gardens would be one place I can think of, but I am never really downtown around that time, so I have no idea what is good. I am hoping some people have some good suggestions.
Thanks.

What kind of food do you like? There's lots of places on Stephen Ave.

Are you buying or brownbagging it and just need a place to sit?
If you're buying, I'd recommend Seven or Escoba. If you ditch the pretentiousness of Seven, the food is quite good.
What ever you do, go at 11:30, or 11:45 if you can, you'll save a ton of time.
Don't go to the Metropolitan - I was there Tuesday and the side of the restaurant next to Stephen Ave is FREEZING thanks to the wall that turns into doors for the patio. If you do, get something on the mall side.

dude, you need to narrow it down a little... price range, kind of food etc... there are literally hundreds if not thousands of places to eat downtown... but asking us to start listing them out is not going to help you...
You need to say something like "I want a really good sit down Indian food buffet place" and then you will have 5 or 6 good suggestions.

It is not exactly downtown, but one of my favorite places is Spolumbos in Inglewood. You could make it work if you aren't working - you could pick her up and then fire down 9th Ave and then bring her back. The service is quite fast there.

K, narrowing down. Just a sandwich place. That you can either sit down, or take away. Nothing overly expensive (like $10-15 / person range).

Just make sure you only get charged once for your meal. I'm still kind of bitter about that.

Go to the Korean Barbeque place next to the big Women's gym on Macleod. It's only 5 to 10 mins out of downtown.

Ya I can't remember what its called either... it has good vietnamese subs though.
if your not looking for a restruant type setting then their is a food court right beside the devonian gardens if you want to go there... couple sandwich places as well as stirfry and chinese and a few other fast foods.
There is a OPA across from Bankers that is good...
ands in Bankers there is another food court with a couple decent wrap/sandwhich places and other options... sounds like that what you looking for...
I'd probably meet at bankers or the devonian Gardens as then there is enough choice that both of you will find something you like sit down eat and go with out much time used.
If your looking for a little bit nicer and quieter setting, then in the Rand Mcnally Book store on the 3rd floor there is a nice little soup and sandwich shop called Prarie Ink. Be a little early to get a table.
