I don't find it cold, but the snow is a pain here in Van.
The sidewalks don't get shoveled at all, so even walking from the bus to work, is very slushy and wet.
I am on a waitlist for 3 plow companies to try and get a sales center of ours open. We can't get cars into the parking lot out there, and without the plows I'll likely have to send the staff home.

For the record Chilliwack has a good 20–30 cms., and all schools are open today.

Funny thing is, the other night, when we were talking about/bracing for the upcoming Calgary coldwave, I was heard to say, "It NEVER snows in Vancouver."
You're welcome.
How will the Sedins get to work? Ponies can't manouvre well in snow.

No snow at UVic today. Sunny and about four degrees. 15cm seems a lot farther away than just across the water.

I had the pleasure of going to UBC today!
Took the ol' 84 and the ride was fine, roads aren't that bad at all. Finally got down to buch and my class was cancelled!!! I came down for that one class, drove me insane. So I paid my tuition at the bank and peaced Campus wasn't that bad since it's still below 0. Once it warms up again it is gonna be wet and ugly up there.

Do pedestrians in Calgary walk right in the middle of the road when it snows? I live on top of a very steep hill and to make it all the way up you need slow constant momentum. I get 3/4 of the way up and theres this mom with her teenage kids right in the middle of my way. . I honked at them but by the time they got their ignorant butts off the road, it was too late, and i was stuck. I had to reverse all the way back to the bottom where I watched them return right back to the middle. Pedestrians here do this everytime it snows, no matter what street. Bloody Hell!

Yeah, we moved to Wichita, KS 11 years ago from Kalispell, MT. Our kids, though both born in Montana, have grown up and attended school here.
When we left Montana (December 31, 1996 a day that I will regret for the rest of my life ) the seasonal snowfall record had already been broken. It seemed like it snowed a foot every day. It just didn't stop. Not once do I remember school being cancelled.
We got down here and got our kids in school and it snowed, I kid you not, 3 inches and they cancelled school. UNREAL. You think that's pathetic, you should see how the road crews handle storms here. It's not their fault, they aren't properly trained, but it's laughable.

That is ######ed, some people are just so stupid and oblivious to the world around them.

Oh God no. That just doesn't happen very often. It did actually happen last month though. BUT...if the road crews had been adequate it wouldn't have. I called the office at about 1 PM to tell them I would need help to get done by dark and they said bring it all back, it's too dangerous...and it was the correct call. First time they had suspended delivery in Wichita in 34 years.
We got something like 10 inches of snow in 2 and a half hours. Never seen it snow like that here before. We had people getting stuck left and right.

But hopefully you can laugh at Vancouver to warm you up. Out here, it's -1 and there's about 15cm on the ground and ALL THE SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED!! I havn't been up to UBC so i don't know the amount of snow they got, but the secondary schools around me are all closed.
I know this isn't quite the army being called in, but it's still laughable how useless people are out here in the cold.

...Not too worry, the entire province of BC laughs when Vancouver gets "socked in".

Different cities, different climate norms.
I'm pretty sure that if it rained every single day from October to mid-January Calgarians would be sacrificing goats and building arks.
