C-Trains in the south have apparently stopped running . . . . haven't been for the last hour.

any online confirmation about this?
edit:
on 660: calgary transit is saying 20 minute delays in all directions. A c-train did break down downtown, but I guess it's been removed from the tracks or something

A colleague of mine had been standing, amongst a mass of humanity, at a C-train station in the south for 45 minutes. At that point, an announcement came over the speaker saying the trains weren't running. That was about 20 minutes ago.

How was the bike ride in this morning Habernac?
About 10 years ago, I was driving down Bow Trail in the early morning blackness, a howling blizzard, minus 26 or something, and had to swerve to avoid a guy riding a bicycle, struggling through the thick snow.
That was completely insane.

Yeah, I've reamed out Calgary Transit for that before too. Seriously. When there is a breakdown, there should be an alert announced immediately. ESPECIALLY in this weather. Imagine standing there forever, waiting at an outdoor station (like 39th Ave) for a train that isn't coming. Just stupid.
Incidentally, going back to the earlier topic of how silly it is to express windchill as a temperature. I've been in -49 before. This does not feel like -49. It feels about ten times worse, because of the bloody wind.

Seems everyone has shown up for school and for work. Rush hour traffic is busy. Amazing how it's business as usual in conditions like this.

Eh, it's late January, this happens every year. It's fun to whine about - but most people usually just suck it up and head to work. There's barely any new snow so things haven't been complicated that much.

Besides a bit of a slow-go on 16th, my commute was really, really quiet. The roads are fairly clear with a bit of blowing snow. It may be because it's 8am, but the university is fairly deserted.

I rode a couple of days like this last year. Today, nope. The ride in wouldn't have been bad. But the thought of 18km straight north into that wind....... no thanks. Even I'm not that crazy.

Well a good news story comes out of all this...
Was waiting for the bus this morning (decided not to walk to the Dome as I would've been heading into the wind the entire way...) and a bus that usually drives right by as it's not his stop, stopped anyway. I hopped on but the other people there just stood there like idiots until the bus driver said "Well are you gonna get on or stand there freezing your buns off?" at which point the other ladies asked where he was going... Duh. He's going downtown like all the other buses at this time of day.
Anyhew, was nice of him to pick us up even though he didn't have to.
In addition, the train was delayed so I was late for work, but the train heading South out of downtown was only late by about 10 minutes... although that might've been just my luck for getting there at the right time.
