Memorable ways to pop the question...
Hello All,
A friend of mine is thinking of ways to propose to his girlfriend of 7 years... he wanted to do something memorable and so I am trying to help him out. Any ideas? Any stories of how you popped the question?
My wife is from Chicago... I ended up flying down and surprising her with a note on her car at work that led her around the city in a scavenger hunt... the last spot of the hunt ended up at Navy Pier where we had a our first date and I popped the question there...worked out pretty well.
Any memorable stories out there?
-FoB.

May I suggest the following:
Step 1: Cut a hole in a box
Step 2: Put your junk in the box
Step 3: Put the ring on your junk
Step 4: Get her to open the box
Should be pretty easy/memorable.

So really, it depends on the girl. I bet most married women don't even talk about how their husbands proposed to them, they do however talk about the wedding day.
The day is already special enough, don't complicate things more then they need to be. My proposal was pretty ordinary actually and rather dull but my wife loved it all the same

I think it be safe to say if he can fit the ring on his junk, they might have marital issues.......

Is she into Star Trek? Take her to the Star Trek ride in Las Vegas at the Hilton. They have a replica of the bridge of the Enterprise from The Next Generation. You can actually reserve it for parties and the like. Get her in there, go to red alert, sit her down in Captain Picard's chair.
Then on bended knee ask her to marry you. If she says "yes" you slide on the ring and say "engage".
:-)

Fobulous - you've got the idea right in front of you, with how you proposed. Have your friend recall to his gf the night of their first date.
I did something similar - our first date was to a Doc Walker concert (part of Rodeo Royal), and last year, I won us tickets to see Doc Walker the night before Stampede, and I proposed while dancing to the first song we ever danced to together.

Agree with return of the red I doubt that my proposal (if I do ever make one) will be very ordinary
I recall a story my cousin told me about the way she was proposed to; very elaborate…her now husband took her on a vacation to Mexico than did the entire treasure hunt thing ended up proposing on the beach. She told me that she loved it, and that it was nice. But she would have preferred just a nice dinner just being asked while falling asleep in each others arms

I am one who thinks that it needs to be an event, make it memorable and if you can blind side her all the better. It was not a marriage proposal but I suprised my girl with a trip to NYC in November. I called her boss and got the extra 2 days off for her so we could have a long weekend, booked the hotel, got concert tickets etc. And the clincher was her parents who live in TO. It turns out we had a stop over for 4 hours, so I called them (without even meeting them) and got them to meet us at the airport. (My girl had not seen her folks in eight months). I told her three hours before we left. She melted. Definatley worth keeping the secret.

An intersesting one I heard that the girl enjoyed was that the guy put together a scrap book of the memories together chronologically using pictures, items, whatever he had around with the two of them. On the final page when she flipped over was a picture of their location and the date and time he proposed. A lot of work but she gets hell of a story and a keep sake.

When I proposed to my gf last february, I took her back to the first place she told me she loved me and asked her. She loved it and was completely shocked.

Your friend should do something that has never been done before. Be original. I suggest proposing on the JumboTron at the Labour Day Game.

Present her with a carefully worded pre-nuptial agreement.

If you'd like to order a special dialing wand, mash the keypad with your plam, now...
I'd base a proposal on what kind of woman she is. If she's the quiet/easily embarrassed type, do it quietly over a nice dinner in a corner booth.
If she's the opposite, get it on the jumbotron at the 'dome. (please don't do that).
You could dump some oil on the block and tie the ring box to something (conspicuous) under the hood. When the oil starts smoking, she pulls over and calls her b/f because her "car is on fire". He tells her it's something easily fixed and he'll guide her through it. She pops hood, he pops wood... Bingo, they're on their honeymoon.

Just proposing should be memorable enough.

Never a bad idea, but maybe wait a few minutes until after the proposal!
