Lives In Fear Of Labelling
|
Saw Blue Rodeo in Banff on Monday night, it was quite possibly the best live show I've ever seen, and I've been to a lot of shows.

One of my best friends was a manager for The New Deal and made an indie film about them on tour.

I bet there were a lot of Canadians there.
Joel Plaskett is playing in Sydney as part of the Australia Day festivities on Saturday, I am pretty sure every who turns up for his set will be Canadian though.

Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Metallica and Guns and Roses (especially) are some of the best live performances I've seen, but it's probably a little biased because they all got some wacked out fans (trashy, but entertaining). But typically, IMO, anyone with some pyro in their performance gets the crowd going, so it's hard to say.

Th' Legendary Shack Shakers are hands down the best live performers I have ever seen. The last show a few months ago was great, but was nothing compared to the show they did previously. The Colonel (lead singer) was punching out stagelights, biting Christmas tree lights off the wire, and generally making an awesome ruckus out of things.
A close second would be The Sadies. I've seen them probably over 8 times now and it's amazing every single time. Last show they played at Quincy's had them come out for 3 encores and finish off with an amazing Pink Floyd cover.
For the third, I have a bunch. But two pleasant memories are Hawksley Workman and Jon Spencer.

Rush is extending their Snakes & Arrows tour and they are coming back to my area in June. Just saw them in August, it was such an excellent show, very happy to see it again.
They are such a great live band!

I gotta say, I hate them. I was very excited to see them play, as I'd heard so many good things about them from my friends, but I was extremely disappointed.
Maybe just with their music - I thought it was very mediocre. Their energy on stage was very high but I also found them to be overly showy, as if they were trying to compensate for the poor music.
Now, the band who opened for them last time they were here, Pilate (or Pilot Speed as they're now known, unfortunately), is unbelievable live. Absolutely flawless.
My favourite live acts, though, have to be Hawksley Workman and Matthew Good. Especially Workman.
...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead also puts on a hell of a show.

I've always wanted to those guys live. They were at Flames Central a while ago. I wasn't a big fan of the venue, so I didn't go. Maybe I should've.
