That would suck to show up on the show, and then get kicked off in the first 10 minutes. But I do beleive the crazy lady. Funny as that sounds.
As far as the teams that where picked.. if it was up to me, pick the old people, and send the young people home. Then kick the old people off during the challenges. Less competition then for the grand prize.
Thats what I would do anyway.

Sounds like sour grapes. It serves her right, however. Has she not watched a previous episode of Survivor... EVER? If I was a Survivor, I would not begin by standing on top of a boat and singing (strangling the cat actually) and cheering on my fellow castaways as they try to row a boat in the ocean.. No-one to blame but herself. If NBC wants to cast models to get ratings.... it's their money, their show. Let them do what they want. As a viewer, I don't cheer for the uglies just because I think they deserve a break. This lady is lucky they didn't throw her off the boat!

It's like she stayed up all night thinking "What's the best way for me to make all the other contestants think I'm a total whack job and want to vote me off immediately? I know! I'll sing loudly and horribly!"

Now I'm not a judge of potential male models, but dude who got the boot with her probably had a lot of (albeit pathetic) females shedding a tear that they didn't see him with his shirt off enough in the first 15 minutes.
So there's one "attractive" person that didn't get any special treatment.

Scott Feschuk in the National post had an article on this Wanda lady today
sounds like she is a major fan of the show, and had several strategies in place on how she was going to win (basically her plan involved pulling a "Tina" and piggybacking off a Colby type)
so she's pretty disappointed/bitter that she's gone
BUT then how can she be so stupid as to think that 'signing' while the rest of the team was paddling was going to help her?
and frankly who cares where the players come from? I don't care whether competitor X,Y or Z applied or not...that's not what makes the game interesting

At a certain point in most Survivor series, they've shown clips from everyone's audition tapes if I'm not mistaken.
In any event, the ugliest woman and prettiest man were kicked off at the same time as someone pointed out above.
If someone is alleging favouritism, its actually not about who gets cast because that's obviously a manipulated process in itself no matter how its done, but rather whether the events unfolding are manipulated once the puck is dropped.
In order to be cast on the series, players do sign a contract which contains a privacy clause which restricts their discussion about the series and its inner workings.
I wonder if she'll sing in court too?

I think they are doing that less frequently...it's possible that several players in each of the last few seasons are 'planted'
but as you say I'm not sure that matters...the producers are casting the show regardless...it's what happens once they get on location that should matter...and its hard to say that she got an unfair treatment on arrival

Well, it's not like the entire cast was plucked from model agencies... I mean, Wanda herself wouldn't have set foot in Palau to begin with.

I remember watching an interview with a guy model from LA who was trying to be an actor and he made some comment about how his agent was getting him spots on reality shows and game shows. I've since seen the guy on Fear Factor, Blind Date, and one of those "bachelor shows".
I didn't think it was a secret that many of the "contestants" and "competetors" on reality based shows are plants that will "act" to make the shows more interesting.

Seems to me that only one castmember would qualify as a "model" and that is the righteous Bobby Jon. It says right in his biography that he is trying to become an actor.
The rest of them are either too old or they live in the sticks.
There are a couple cute chicks and beefcakes, but if they wanted to load up the roster with a bunch of pretty faces it would have been mighty easy, and they wouldn't need the phone number of some casting director in Birmingham Alabama.

Her singing did her in. The other survivors didn't want to listen to that 'singing' any longer than that first day. She was a little to bold for my liking.

I don't think you'll find too many people with serious chances of acting success try out for these shows. For someone with talent and a real chance, a reality show could be more of a career killer than a boost.
The ones that do try out are the bottom of the barrel, and this is pretty much their last chance to get noticed for anything.

That's true to a point. That girl on the hit show "Lost" was doing Canadian phone sex commercials about a year ago so you just never know.
The singing bird has a point -- they like to have some skin, hopefully not too wrinkly, on these shows. But she seems to imply that looks were all the casting was based on. I don't buy it.

If she was a big fan then she is an idiot. She must have realised from watching the other shows that her singing would drive people nuts and put a big target on her.
