Air Canada Sucks

They suck more then I thought they did. My birthday is tomorrow. My fiance had a huge surprise for me. She bought a team Canada jersey and gave it to her sister who works with the teams chef. He brought it to the World Jr's and had the whole team sign it.

&^%*ing amazing surprise, right!!!

Well, they jersey, along with a couple of others were stolen by some dumb%$% suitcase jockey at the airport.

I can't believe that with all the so called security at the airports, they can't even manage to secure the personal property of passengers.

You should almost report that to the media.. That seems to be the only way to get Air Canada's attention.. You arent Sidney Crosby but you might have a lil luck..

I learned my lesson the hard way. I never had a problem for years. Never used a lock. I ALWAYS used a carry on for my $1400 laptop at the time (1 year ago). I was running late one day and needed to charge my Ipod for my flight so I charged it on my laptop at the airport.

I just thew my laptop in between my clothes and forgot all about my laptop bag at home. I was running late so I didn't even think about it. On the way home from Vancouver, some a****** stole my brand new laptop. They even stole my calogne, etc. From then on I have always used a lock. I didn't even report it. I didn't want to go write a friggin report and do all that.

Don't get me wrong, I had it coming. That was idiotic of me, but still. Some people are just $^%^&%^&

I have been told that putting a lock on makes no differance. In fact it is like a bulls eye. If its locked the thiefs think there is something worth taking. Best thing to do is keep any expensive valuables in your carry on luggage.

It wasn't my bag so I don't really want to involve the individual whose bag it was and Hockey Canada. Hopefully Hockey Canada realizes they can't trust the employees at the airport and hire their own staff to manage baggage.

That sucks, man. Seriously. It's not like its an easily replaceable item either.

But is Air Canada the correct party to blame here? Aren't the baggage handlers employed by the airport and not the airline? If so, they're the responsible ones here.

To me that is the most selfish thing you could possibly do. By not reporting it, how are airlines/ the airport supposed to do anything? If they get few or no reports of theft, then there's nothing for them to do.

But if thefts get reported, then something can be done.

So indirectly you share some of the responsibility of Barnes getting his jersey stolen.

I called the airline and they told me all I could do is go to a local police station and file a report. I didn't have the time to do all that knowing I was never getting it back.

Condolences ... I friggin' hate thieves. And liars. Thieves and liars are the bane of civilization because there's so bloody many of them. They're thicker than flies on jelly.

Jerseys are apparently a popular item among baggage handlers. (see below)

I remember seeing an investigation by some news show into theft by airport workers. It was unbelievable how rampant the problem was. It was as if the workers were treating the baggage as their own personal store.

You should always try to take your valuables on carryon.

It seems no Sidney Crosby hockey sweater is safe. For the second time in less than a year, one of the phenom's game-worn jerseys has disappeared at an airport.
Crosby's father, Troy, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette the Penguins jersey Sidney Crosby wore in his first NHL game on Oct. 5 was missing.

The jersey was later recovered at Pittsburgh International Airport, found between a piece of equipment and a stairwell.

US Airways spokesperson Davis Castelveter said the jersey was found in the same plastic bag in which it was packed and the investigation would continue.

Troy Crosby told the Pittsburgh newspaper he had the white sweater in his bag when he checked onto a US Airways flight from Pittsburgh to Buffalo.

"When I got the bag off [the baggage-claim conveyor] belt in Buffalo, it was partially unzipped," Crosby told the paper. "I noticed it right away."

In January, a Canadian sweater worn by Crosby in the gold-medal final of the world junior hockey championship was stolen by an Air Canada baggage handler.

Jacques Lamoureux took the jersey from Crosby's bag when the phenom passed through Montreal's airport after the tournament.

After getting the jersey back, Crosby put it up for auction and donated the proceeds from the sale to charity.

The sweater raised $22,100 for hockey charities and south Asian tsunami relief.

How does an employee just walk out of there with a laptop? I suppose maybe they bring a book bag to work or something, but really... Are there no supervisiors?

I would love to talk to someone who works/worked as a baggage handler. I just can't fathom stopping what I'm doing (swamping bags) to open one and rifle through it. At what point is there enough privacy to do that? Are the supervisors in on it?

And another thing... What about something like drug smuggling? If one guy works in one airport and his friend in another, couldn't they use travellers as unwitting drug mules?

I never check any luggage with valuables. Always carry them on.

If you use a lock on your suitcase, and travel to the USA. Expect it to get cut off by the TSA. It's happened to me the last few times I flew to the US.

It is baffling to me as well. I guess because it's supposedly a secure area theres no need for security.

good thing i didnt try to check my game used/signed robyn regher stick when i came back from calgary at the first of the month, now i just have to find away to get it shipped here... i should insure it for 1000 bucks
