Thrashers Unbeaten in 16! (13-0-3)

(Atlanta - AP)

The Atlanta Thrashers continued their torrid pace to the season Saturday Afternoon by beating the Minnesota Wild by a score of 2-1 to increase their unbeaten streak to 16 games with a record of 13 wins and 3 ties during that span. The Thrashers outshot the Wild 34-22 and were led by Brenden Morrow who had a goal and an assist. Chris Mason has been on a roll and put in another solid performance making 21 saves.

"Anytime you face the defending Stanley Cup Champions, it's always a good test to see where your team is at. We played well tonight and beat a good team on the other side. We've gone on a good run here and we hope to continue that. The guys are playing with a lot of confidence right now. It's not just one line carrying this team, we have a lot of people stepping up for us every night. I'm happy for Chris to play as well as he has since Roli went down. Tomorrow should be another good game vs Montreal. " - Thrashers GM Sutaria

Notes: Dwayne Roloson is almost ready to come off the IR as he is now day to day with a chest injury (up from 60 CD at the time of the injury to 94 CD now). Atlanta continues their 5 games in 5 nights tomorrow at home vs the Montreal Canadiens.

Close game against the Sabres but the good guys come out on top in OT. Horcoff continues to impress even on the 3rd line as he pots another goal and is named the games 2nd star. Belfour takes the 1st star honors with a solid game between the pipes. Hossa, the games 3rd star, left in the extra frame with a minor injury but is expected to be in the lineup next game vs. the Bruins. Should be a tough game against a solid team!

Brutal. Team just starts to get healthy on the blueline and I lose two more guys. Have to play guys I would normally rest with low CONs, which will likely lead to more injuries.

Geez man, I don't understand - I trade away almost all of my so-called talented players and this happens. What a huge victory - and a balanced scoring attack. Karma seems to hate the Devils or something!

WOW...yesterday we looked good against the Devils and today we lose 8-0. Good to see the consistency from this club!

Oilers 8 Lightning 4

For the first time since late October, the Edmonton Oilers once again find themselves in first place in the Howe Conference. They are also second only in the CPHL to the Atlanta Thrashers.

After scoring 3g and 3a in his last two games for the Oilers, Henrik Zetterberg added two assists on Day 91 against the Lightning but the real hero was Daniel Alfredsson, who paced Edmonton to an 8-4 win with a hat trick and an assist.

The win, Edmonton's 9th in a row, came with backup Patrick Lalime earning his seventh win on the season.

All the key Oilers hit the scoresheet and a couple of role players--Bryce Salvador and Eric Perrin--received 3 star nods for scoring two points apiece.

Oilers aim for 10 in a row versus the Canucks tomorrow.

WOOF!

Nice bounce back game after the humiliating loss to the Penguins.

Toskala was names the games #1 star a night after being absolutely undressed by Pittsburgh. It did take it's toll as the netminder is now tired. Handzus. Sakic and Rucinsky scored for the Dogs.

Phoenix shuffles off to Buffalo to face the Sabres on Sunday.

Leafs beat Ducks 5-2.

Finally a win. We really needed to break that 4 game losing streak and luckily we did. It wasn't easy though... the game was tied at 2 until the Leafs offense finally woke up and scored 3 times in a 2 minute span. Lundqvist is a bit tired but we had to play him because we needed the win and he was solid.

Well it was a little closer than I would have liked against the Jackets but I'll take the win.

After a season of inconsistent play the big guys are finally start to click and put together some good games in a row. Mike Richards continue his solid play despite limited minutes.

The Flyers face a very tough Flames team tomorrow before a couple of games against the streaking Canucks.
