ACLU: Sex in PUBLIC bathrooms should be PRIVATE
Had to read this one twice just make sure I didn't get it wrong. ACLU in another headlong rush into absurdity.....and proving once again that it is looking a little too hard now to find a cause.
ST. PAUL, Minn. - In an effort to help Sen. Larry Craig, the American Civil Liberties Union is arguing that people who have sex in public bathrooms have an expectation of privacy.
Craig, of Idaho, is asking the Minnesota Court of Appeals to let him withdraw his guilty plea to disorderly conduct stemming from a bathroom sex sting at the Minneapolis airport.
The ACLU filed a brief Tuesday supporting Craig. It cited a Minnesota Supreme Court ruling 38 years ago that found that people who have sex in closed stalls in public restrooms "have a reasonable expectation of privacy."

Well I hope to expect a reasonable amount of privacy in a public bathroom stall as well. When I am dropping a deuce I don't want a bunch of people being allowed look over the stall to see what I am doing in there. And if you noticed they are using a Supreme Court ruling to back it up.

The Republican senator was arrested June 11 by an undercover officer who said Craig tapped his feet and swiped his hand under a stall divider in a way that signaled he wanted sex. Craig has denied that, saying his actions were misconstrued.
Who knows this? Where do you learn this? Is there some kind of code? God forbid I ever ask the guy next to me to pass some toilet paper and he think I'm asking for a BJ.

i think the best thing to do is to make sure there's toilet paper in the stall before you start droppin bombs. who the hell wants to ask someone to pass them some wipe? never.

But if people receive their privacy where will we get comedy gold like "I have a wide stance"?

A reasonable amount of privacy should be allowed in a stall, but I think having sex in a stall passes beyond a reasonable amount of privacy.

Well, that's it. Now I know where I have to go to check that one off my list.

I don't even like doing my business in a public bathroom (flushing and hand washing isn't that hard) let alone sex. Last thing I need is a bacterial infection.

So do think you would be entitled then to peep over the wall and kibbitz?

I normally support the ACLU, but this is reaching I am kind of mixed. Mainly because if you decide to have sex in a public place it is no longer private and you no longer deserve privacy if you are risking doing that in a public place.

While I am by no means endorsing sex in public washrooms (for several reasons), I agree with the ACLU on this one. This is people going into a private place, where public eyes should not be. It would be tough to positively identify this activity without committing some act of voyeurism, either by looking into a stall, or waiting for both parties to leave the stall... both of which are not really understandable behavior.
As funny as it sounds... what's next, are people going to leer into stalls if they hear too much grunting?

I thought the issue with him was paying for sex, not the location.

x2, although its not so much a cleanliness issue with me as it is a privacy issue. Seriously, is there anything more disgusting than listening to some dude drop a deuce right next to you? I seriously plug my ears until he's done before I even start going. I've spent many a spare at the UofA searching for the most private, unknown bathrooms on campus.

Haha. Washroomphobia. I used to be such a bitch about washrooms before spending a bunch of time in Europe. Now I'm happy if there's a toilet instead of a hole in the ground. When there's a handle I can flush with my foot instead of a chain I have to (shudder) pull with my hand. And doors that close? Forget locks, it's a small victory if the door closes.
LOL. We have it soooo good here.
