Blackberry Question

I have a question for all other blackberry owners out there.
Ive recently just purchased a new pearl. I was looking to get Sport or News updates directly to my Blackberry. I dont know all the technical lingo. But I think Im looking to set up a push service or an RSS subscription. If anyone has an idea how to set this up I would appreciate the help.
I also hope this makes sense what Im looking to do.

The score has an application that will push sports scores to your phone, but it takes a bit of time to load the app and scores take a few minutes to update. I'm incredibly frusturated that no one has come up with a better system for NHL scores, being that the BB is a Canadian thing.

The best I do is load up espn.com (or TSN/NHL etc) in Opera Mini.
