The first dumb thing he did was accept puberty, and stop being adorable. That kid's maturity at a young age was his meal ticket. Didn't anyone tell him drugs are bad... mmmmmkay...

Back on topic, I think the OP should go back to the store, ask to talk to the manager directly, and see if there's any way they can help him out trying to either find the camera (there's a chance they thought it was a repair... you never know) or if they can help find who took it, atleast on camera.

I guess you gotta decide if it's worth your time. If it's an old beat up camera... they are replaceable. If it's a newer one, it may be worthwhile to follow through on seeing if the cops should be involved.

I can kinda both sides to the stores response, but it's probably worthwhileto give it a shot.

Yeah, first thing I did was go in the store and talk to the duty manager to see if they had seen it & leave them my info in case it turned up. Good idea on the CCTV, I'll check with them on that.

I doubt the cops will really care beyond filing a report, but I may do that just to list my serial# with them.

Camera was only about 18 months old. The thing that upsets me most is the last two months worth of video that I hadn't backed up on the PC yet, which includes my younger son's 1st b-day and taking his first few steps.

Thanks all on mentioning some of the good samaritan stories, perhaps there is still hope for the human race after all.

Don't know if it's sensational enough but see if the Calgary Sun will post an article about it in the newspaper and be sure to mention the lost footage. Sometimes that newspaper shames people into coming forward or just plain shames people. I remember the story a few years ago they did about an able-bodied guy who used to sit in a wheelchair on 17th Ave pan-handling. They caught him on camera and shamed him publically.

Maybe you could shame the person to at the very least send the memory card.

That really sucks man. My 10 month old son just took his first steps a week ago. That footage is priceless. I really hope you get your camera back.

Interestingly enough, today's edition features an article about an apology from a guy who suckerpunched a C-Train operator on NYE (and felt guilty when the Sun ran a story about it), as well as a letter in the letters section from a guy thanking a good samaritan who returned his lost camera.

Yeah, it's a less than pleasant situation. But it's a small number thats skewing your view. I dropped my wallet in a parking lot just prior to Christmas and someone picked it up and went through the trouble to track me down and call me to tell me they had found it. I had no money in it, but cancelling credit card, debit card, getting a new DL would have been a real pain. Theres still numerous good honest folks out there. Unfortunately they don't stand out as much those who aren't.

I love commiting random acts of kindess, it feels awesome, even if you never hear any kudos from the person.

You're selfish. Stop being so selfish. Stop doing nice things for people because it makes you feel good. What about my feelings, huh? Did you ever stop and think, "Maybe that person doesn't want a random act of kindness today..." Huh? Didja? You selfish, selfish person.

You think that's bad, i've had random groups of kids trying to rob me of my briefcase on the c-train on my way home from work. Unbelievable.

I think he felt guilty because he got busted. It's not like he got away and then after reading the story in the paper he felt bad. He got busted and now faces jail time. Here is a quote from the sun today...

Quote:

But playing the role of sorrowful sinner is easy when an assault charge awaits you in court, says union boss Mike Mahar, who is demanding more security protection for transit drivers.
Some 40 transit drivers were attacked in 2007, with about half forced to miss work.
Though an apology makes this case unique, Mahar said the spate of violence has left him cynical and he wants to read Collins' letter before he accepts its sincerity. "A letter of apology certainly has potential, but this was more than just a punch on the shoulder," Mahar says. "This guy knows he may be looking at jail time, so who knows what his motivation is."

Thought this would fit here. It is entitled, simply, "Door 14."

The afternoon it all began, began like any other afternoon. I was done work. I was waiting for the C-Train at the 3rd St platform. Finally, the C-Train came. We herded on. Knowing that I would be departing at the Vic Park/Stampede station, I made my way over to the opposite door so that getting off would be easy. Little did I know the horror that would transpire minutes later...

We got to the Victoria Park station. The train came to a stop. I pressed the button to open the door. The door did not open. I pressed the button again. Still the door did not open. Panic began to set in. Would I be able to get off in time? More frantically I pressed the button, to no avail. Other passengers began to adopt my urgency. A girl nearby began banging feverishly on the door, alerting some tradespeople on the platform outside. They rushed over and began pushing the door-open button mercilessly, but nothing happened. A child inside the train began crying.

The girl kept banging on the glass as though her life depended on it, but then the unthinkable happened: the train began to move again. The tradespeople pushing the button reached out their arms in one last futile attempt to get me off the train.

It wasn't to be. I had to go to the next stop.

I told myself that it was just a glitch, kind of like when you take the bus and the operator forgets to engage the backdoor. Other passengers tried to console me, and before we got to the next stop, we were all laughing as though nothing had ever gone wrong. After all, I was only trying to get to the Talisman Center. The Victoria Park station and the Erlton Stampede station were about equidistant from my goal. It wouldn't matter much.

As the Erlton stop loomed I braced myself. My finger was already on the button. A hush came over the nearby passengers.

The train came to a stop.

It was the same thing.

I yelled down the train, "Is the other door working??!"

No answer. Too many people on the train. My screams were muffled by the endless bodies crammed into the car.

But close by someone tried to save me. He pressed the emergency button to alert the train operator.

"What's your emergency?" came the operator's voice, cold, unforthcoming.

"We have a problem with Door 14," said the man. "It won't open!"

"It's inoperative," replied the robotic voice. "Can't you read the sticker?"

"There IS no sticker," many people said in unison.

"Well," said the operator, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience."

"Wait!" I yelled. "Tell him to wait so I can move to the other door!"

"Wait!" yelled the man.

But it was too late. The train was moving again.

I was defeated. I was finished. I wouldn't be able to make it to the Talisman Center for at least another 20 minutes. My evening had been compromised. Broken, I resigned myself to my fate.

But then, something happened.

Like an orchestral swell, a chorus of boos erupted from everyone who was in my vicinity. In unison, everyone was joined by their bemused disgust. I was buoyed!

And so, in conclusion, people are awesome. Even though I ended up getting where I was going a little later, I was truly touched by how people tried to work together to get me there on time. And the unity in the booing... seriously... I was laughing, but it was touching. Really.

Thank you, Calgary.

It disgusts me that know one would bother to use their brain before they took it. They thought oh look something i can take and know one will know, not oh i wonder who left this?

I worked at a wearhouse in returns, and alot of my co-workers would steal video cameras and other smaller electronics, i just don't see how someone couldn't feel bad about stealing something like that.
Its kind of sad

To whoever found my PSP on a Westjet flight out of Calgary, I hope it explodes in your face and blinds you for life.

Seriously, who would find something like that and not turn it in? I mean, I'm a scumbag but I would never think of keeping someone else property, especially when Westjet have a pretty good system in place for lost and founds.

Went to 7-11 yesterday, bought my daughter a treat and lottery tickets. I knew I had only a twenty to pay with as the wallet was sadly empty otherwise. Put my change away, and left. When I got in the vehicle and still had the lottery tickets in hand rather than wallet, I opened the wallet and thought those three 5's look like 4. Sure enough she had given me 4 fives instaed of 3. I went back in and gave her the extra bill.

An Alice In Chains question: Would you?

("If I Could, Would You?")
