You've seen those self-checkout machine at Rona and Wal-Mart right? I think that it would be total chaos if someone messed up and didn't know how to go back and edit it.

Why the heck are those things so painfully slow anyways? I've used them at Superstore/Co-op and there is about a 10 second delay inbetween scanning items.
If you try to scan too fast, the machine locks up.

There's good tim's and bad tim's... I drive out to Strathmore every day and wait to use the one there, the line-up is always atleast 15 cars long, but they get through it in under a minute a car. They are so busy and I have no problems being patient with them.

Must be a bit of a rule...where the money lands (customer to employee, boss to employee) is also where s**t lands.
Rumors are rumors, but is it true that Tim's coffee is spiked with nicotine? The totally insane line-ups make perfect sense now. *SIGH* "I NEED A COFFEE!"

So you'd basically vandalize someones vehicle...because they asked you to do your job?
That's low

No kidding, considering that a tip consists of 10%-15% of what was bought versus the cost of fixing a scratch or an engine replacement. "I didn't get my 2 bucks so I'm gonna cost you 2 grand, that'll teach ya"

Boo hoo. If you are dumb enough to get ask some teenager making 5 bucks an hour to look after your car when it's -30 then you are dumb enough to get crappy service and not even know it.

Boo hoo? This coming from the guy complaining about how cold it is. Boo hoo is right, if you can't take the cold, dress appropriate for the weather, and if it's still too cold quit your job once winter rolls around.
If I'm dumb enough to let a 15 year old kid look after my car? Checking the oil is hardly complicated...even for a 12 year old girl. Was checking tire pressure also a challenge for you at age 15? Fact is, none of the things you mentioned are a difficult task, not even for a 15 year old...regardless of the wage he's being paid. If you don't like your job, then quit!

Laugh. Kids today!
I'm not going to argue about it. If you think teenagers making minimum wage are going to kiss your ass and go out of their way to do your bidding out of a sense of moral duty then you just keep rollin' along. Until your car stops. Then go get a coffee with some special sauce.

You don't think it's wrong at all for scratching someone's car and whatever else you claimed, just because they asked you (while you worked at a gas station) to wash their windows and check their oil on a cold day?
If you hated serving burgers, would you get a job at McDonalds and throw a fit everytime someone ordered a big mac?
Anyway, damaging someone's car is completely unnecessary just because you had to do your job. You're fingers will warm back up once you're inside, toughen up a little.

We'll call it a truce. I promise to never again scratch someone's car if I happen to end up in the gas jockey business if you promise never to be that guy who goes to a gas station in the dead of winter and insist some poor kid freezes his ass off because you bought 5 bucks worth of gas. For some reason I get the impression that is something you would do.
Deal?

My dad is one of those guys who always makes a big deal if his order goes wrong or his food isn't cooked enough at a restaurant. I usually have to gently remind him that this is a Montana's or an Earl's and that it's probably a 14 year-old kid back there who couldn't care less what his food tastes like and might even had some extra 'tang' to it if he whine s too much. I often wonder how much spit and mucus I've eaten due to my dad's complaining.

My dad is the same way. You know, he takes his popcorn back at movie theatres if it is not hot enough.

I don't think it should matter where you are purchasing your services or goods and who the person providing the services are. The fact of the matter is that the business should do it's best to hire people who can provide good service. I think it is totally legitamate to complain if you do not receive the service that you expect. The problem is that if the complainer isn't satisfied with outcome of the complaint then they should't give their money to that company. People complain on one hand yet keep going to that company and buying their goods and services on the other, so why would the company change it's approach. They are making a profit with cheap unskilled labour. If people actually stopped buying from these places, things would change pretty fast if the company started to lose money.
If I am not satisfied with a service or good that I purchased from a company I let the manager know, not the peon (because they can't do anything about it usually) but the manager. If I am not satisfied with the outcome I do my best not to shop at that location or franchise any more. Doesn't always happen like this case with the Tim's. It is the only place that I buy coffee, it is right next to my office and I couldn't be bothered to go else where so yes I am contributing to the problem but I will still complain so that management knows that I am not happy.
