I do, but I prefer Hey Joe to both of them.

Speaking of covers of covers, Dave Matthews Band always does Watchtower justice. Particularly on the Central Park Concert CD. Speaking of that CD, they do a great cover of Neil Young's Cortez the Killer on that CD as well with Warren Haynes on lead guitar. Great stuff.

I'm going to side with the popular vote and go with Stairway.

There are so many great songs, like all the ones listed. To me, Stairway to Heaven stands above the rest and is simply just epic.

This is a tough one but I'll have to go with...

3. Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes
2. Creep by Radiohead
1. Something by George Harrison covered by Thom York of Radiohead...it's a rare recording but Thom's vocals are amazing.

Very overrated song from a very overrated band

5. Ozzy Osbourne - I just want you: Just a very well done song. I'm not the Ozzy guy I used to be, but I still love this song, it's great.
4. Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody - A big rock anthem of sorts, but it's just so over the top, and crazy, with Freddie Mercury's vocals, it sounds terrific.
3. Aerosmith - Dream On. Not much explanation needed. Seeing it live did vault it up many many spots though.
2. Pink Floyd - Time - Been mentioned in here. Dark Side of the Moon is just such a great album, and this song is the perfect mood change to the album following "on the run" Honorable mention to Fearless as far as Floyd though. Wicked song in its own right, and it includes the greatest sports anthem on earth.
1. The Beatles - Happiness is a Warm Gun - I've listened to this song many many times, and it's still great.

I have never heard of this. Admittedly I'm not as head-over-heels for Radiohead as I was 5 years ago but still... I know RH has done some interesting covers like Rhinestone Cowboy and Nobody Does It Better, and Thom likes to do Neil Young covers (Cinnamon Girl and Down By The River), but a George Harrison tune?

No way in hell could I tell you what I think the best song of all time is. My opinion in this regard is in a constant state of flux.

I DO know it's not "Like a Rolling Stone" - the ostensible consensus choice as per the magazine Rolling Stone.

I'll be your Lover by Van Morrison
-pretty much anything by Van Morrison would make my list.

Knockin on Heavens Door by Bob Dylan

Pleasant Valley Sunday by The Monkees

Magic Man by Heart

Alone by Heart

Angel of the Morning by The Pretenders

You Lie by Reba McIntyre

You're Missing by Bruce Springsteen

My favourites are always changing though, so ask me ten minutes from now, I'll probably give a different list.

It's impossible for me to pick a definitive top 3 ... heck, I'd have a hard time picking my top 300. So, for three totally random songs that would make my top 300...

Jimi Hendrix - Pali Gap
Jerry Douglas - The Hymn Of Ordinary Motion
Todd Snider - Waco Moon

My selections are probably a little different than the ones listed:

1. Wicked Game - Chris Isaak
I think it is a mesmerizing song, both vocally and instrumentally. I can listen to it over and over again. So many artists try to re-make it and no one comes close. So far, the best re-make I've heard is Bassboosa's version.
2. Ordinary World - Duran Duran
3. Life's What You Make It - Talk Talk
4. Run to You - Bryan Adams
5. La Isla Bonita - Madonna

Stairway may indeed be overrated when compared with their entire works. It's the song that gets mentioned most often, not my favorite but it is a great song. To say Zeppelin is overrated is curious to me. How they AREN'T one of the 5 greatest rock bands in history would be an argument I'd love to hear.

I was having a hard time choosing between that and "us and them" (ok from Us and them through to Eclipse), so I just agreed with you basically, hah. I am biased on the Fearless thing because of the inclusion of you'll never walk alone, but it's still great on its own.
