Too many bands to list. But for the most part I don't listen to:
Rap
Country
R & B
Emo
Specifically I can't stand or am sick of:
AC/DC
Guns and Roses
Van Halen
Def Lepard
Tragically Hip
I am sure a bunch of people here really like some of those bands, but don't flame me because I'll admit that a lot of my music is crappy fuzzed out stoner rock. But I like it. Plus I listen to lots of Classic rock and that is timeless and they could actually play their instruments well.
Also I think Nickelback gets too hard of a time. Don't get me wrong, I don't like them either. But most the venom spat at them is way too excessive. When I am at a pub or a hockey game I don't really notice that Nickelback songs are even playing. It's just simple generic rock. Back ground rock if you will. It's not ground breaking or anything too different that's noticeably annoying.

I don't care about what kind of band they 'were', because they 'are' corporate ass-clowns trying to score some radio hits so they can retire at 35, yeah, thats real punk.

I think punk is dead. So many punk bands have gone that road you just described. But you are being far too hard on Rise Against. Their most recent album was my least favourite. Too emo for me. But they really haven't changed that much. Each album has gotten different. Problem with punk is that once you've gotten remotely noticed you are the opposite of punk. A popular or successful punk band is an oxymoron.

Problem with most Canadian music is that it gets soooo over played on the radio to meet the Canadian content quota. Hence my disdain for the Tragically Hip and why I put an iPod connection link in my car.

It’s a shame really because there is a lot of good Canadian music but maybe its good because it doesn’t get over played on crappy radio stations

I don't really listen to the radio that much anymore. When I do it's usually either our 'pure rock' station or a classic rock station. My wife and kids like all the top 40 stuff like Rhianna and god knows what else. Just makes me sick. How many times can they play that stupid Umbrella song?
So the stuff I hate on 'pure rock' radio?
Hoobastank, Linkin Park, Korn (WTF?), System of A Down, Rage Against the Machine, Chevelle, Hinder, Seether, Saliva
I remember the radio in 1994, where a 30 minute set might net you tracks from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice, Nirvana and maybe a little Seven Mary Three if you were lucky. Good Times.

I've gone one farther than banning bands ... I've banned entire radio stations. The only stations I'll tune in to are CKUA, CJSR, The FAN 960 and CBC Radio, in that order. I haven't listened to any other stations than those for over 10 years. The reason I banned all the mainstream commercial stations is partly because I'm not into mainstream music of any genre and partly because I can't stand the disc jockeys.

My car stereo usually cycles between fan960, 97.5 traffic, and my auxiliary link for the Zen. Rise Against was hugely popular, and I had never heard of them. Once I did, I wish I hadn't. My Banned bands are:
Anything theoretically Nicklefaulty
Emo. All of it. If you have to defend a band and explain to me that it's not emo, and what the difference between them and emo is, it's emo.
Blind Melon (special hate-on since my brother used to overplay it, so I heard way too much of it)
Metallica
Pop-punk
Most rap, but some of it I get a kick out of, because of ridiculous lyrics (see: Chris Rock, Never Scared)
There's a lot more, but not many recent specific bands, since I listen to no radio. I do browse the internet for new things if there's any good occasional gems out there, but that's about it.

I agree with Simple Plan, they just gotta simply stop whining. Seriously, all their songs are about how their life sucks!

You sir, are incorrect. All of their songs revolve about how, regardless of them being 'rockstars' none of them can get laid.
Case in Point:
Their 2004 release: "Still Not Getting Any."
Simple Plan: Listen up, we all got problems, but nobody cares about yours.
