Next time I ask for a raise, I'm gonna cry my eyes out.

Or ask my girlfriend for a guys night out, they'll be one tear running down my cheek.

Welcome to the sissy generation, where leadership entails crying.

Oh please we all know you're a tough military man that eats nails for breakfast. Maybe you should change your name from Captain Crunch to Mr.Macho.

Some interesting reading this morning . . . . .

A pundit goes to Plan B for his column

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22564014/

Below, why Feb 5 looks super for Clinton.

http://www.latimes.com/news/politics...la-home-center

I think Howard Kurtz's Sunday morning Media Matters show on CNN is going to be pretty funny. He was already blasting pundits for cheerleading Obama last weekend. An early preview in today's Washington Post:

It's scary to think that this generation may have to witness a Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton run as president.

Well, I guess in the end it's the people that pick 'em.

Very strange how the pollsters were all wrong.

I was sitting there and they were talking about possible reasons they could be wrong and no one mentioned the Edwards decline (Obama didnt drop in female voters, Hillary took almost all of Edwards decline).

Obama didnt drop in support, Hillary picked up all the far left Edwards support. I assume they just discounted Edwards and thought they would split that vote.

Can anyone confrm - I have heard the Hillary still has 100mil in the war chest - is that true?

The results say gender was the issue. Hillary won because of her support from women. Oprah was clearly not the defining factor in choosing the next president.

From msnbc:
"-- Women voters predominated in Democratic contest.
-- Men predominated in Republican primary.Hillary Rodham Clinton had a clear lead among women, getting nearly half their vote. Barack Obama had about as strong an advantage over Clinton among men. Women made up more than half of voters in the Democratic contest."

I just don't think that women perceive the crying thing as a weakness the same way men do. I think it added a very human element to her campaign. She is very much an ice woman. There is another thread about whether it was calculated or not. There is a very good chance it was, but that is politics.

I also think the polls were misleading in favor of Obama for two reasons:

1) they did not take into account the gender split
2) Obama is more about hype than any candidate I can remember

The Edward decline may have played a factor. About 3 weeks ago when Hillary was clearly dominating, the consensus seemed to be that the Edwards split would hurt Hillary more than it helped. Also, I'm not sure that any splitting of Edwards vote actually happened. He was predicted to get about 18% of the vote, and that is exactly what he got. Obama didn't really show a large decline, but I just think people underestimated the support Hillary would get once there actually appeared to be a chance she might lose. The extra votes seemed to come partially from Obama and the rest from undecided or fringe candidates.

Does anyone know how many delegates they each won last night? To me that is what really matters...

Its a good point.

They each got 9.

I think people are focussing on the actual win % here because of the significance to the states involved. Both Iowa and NH have low populations. So when the same lead is applied to a larger state it becomes magnified and mroe delegates are split.

Also the primaries are important for building momentum. This is a more important factor than the 20 or so delegates out of 4000 up for grabs.

EXACTLY. As an Iowa resident I've been trying to tell people that its only the press making us out to be "the deciders" of the presidential nominees. Both races are still wide open.

And that's why the whole business about other states "moving their primaries" earlier than Iowa and N.H. was so silly. Really, nothing has been decided yet--we'll see how things look on Feb. 5th.

As for the "crying" incident--the hype about that annoys me a little. I saw the video of it--and her voice cracked a tiny bit. She didn't "cry."

On the other hand, John McCain cried during his acceptance speech. Where's the hype about that?
