This is pretty funny.

Michael Moore releases video of GW Bush's new CIA nominee Porter Goss saying:

"I couldn't get a job with CIA today. I am not qualified."

"I don't have the language skills. I, you know, my language skills were romance languages and stuff. We're looking for Arabists today. I don't have the cultural background probably.

"And I certainly don't have the technical skills, uh, as my children remind me every day: 'Dad you got to get better on your computer.' Uh, so, the things that you need to have, I don't have."

Hey, Moore, that's pretty good.

Secondly, why on earth would anyone in their right mind talk to Michael Moore?

Well, that's addressed further down in the article:

Moore told Reuters that Goss, who until Tuesday was chairman of the House of Representatives Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, granted an interview to two of his producers without first checking to see who they worked for.

"You'd think the person who was the head of the intelligence committee would ask a few more questions," said Moore.

The White House dismissed the Moore interview transcript as "ridiculous hearsay" and emphasized the depth of bipartisan respect for Goss on Capitol Hill.
So when it's from the mans own mouth it's hearsay?

haha that is what I was wondering as well. They got caught with their pants down, admit it and try to move on. Don't try to spin the man's own words as hearsay.

I agree. That's a flat out slam dunk.

Too funny. Do you really think Michael Moore gave you the WHOLE story?

Porter Goss was a CIA operative. Porter Goss has been involved in Congressional intelligence matters for years.

Could Porter Goss be a CIA operative today? No. He lacks the language and high tech skills today's operatives need. That's clearly what he was saying.

Does he need language and high tech skills to direct the agency? Hardly.

I don't know if the guy is the best man for the job or not, but you guys clearly didn't get the whole story before laughing at the Bush administration and trotting out your slam dunk comments.

Very interesting!! And, obviously, I'm the last guy here who should be called a Michael Moore fan!!

I'll hook you up mid-week.

I'm off to Western Colorado to reacquire my children. Traded them to my Dad, but he's sending them back. They must've failed their physicals or something!

I'll be back on Tuesday sometime. Remind me if you don't see something in a couple of days.

While I'm here though, I hear Goss is about as partisan as it gets in Congress....if that's the case I'd call him a poor choice for that alone. Not what we need right now AT ALL.

Dis is correct. Goss was a CIA spook for a decade. That much is true. But we can't overlook the fact that he was in charge of over-sight with the agency and did nothing, but write a scathing one page summary, of the agencies short comings. Is he a good selection? Depends on your motivations? If you're looking for a milquetoast leader to continue the incompetant politically driven management of a very capable technical intelligence gathering body, then Goss is probably your man. If you're looking for someone who has the balls to take the bull by the horns and fix what is broken (kicking ass and taking names) then you might consider a stronger candidate. MSNBC, Newsweek, the Post and such have all done stories about Goss in the past year.

BTW... did anyone see that the Montreal Gazette ran a story on September 5th, 2001 quoting Gary Hart (yes, the same Gary Hart that was working on intelligence oversight at the time) as saying that (and I paraphrase) America was going to be hit by a terrorist attack and thousands would die as a result? He also added that senior Whitehouse officials had been briefed just days before September 11th in regards to the seriousness of the threat. More proof that the Whitehouse knew what was happening the morning of September 11th. Nawww, probably not. Probably just more liberal media spin of the events that took place.
