CTV suggests her actions were deliberate

C-Train shut down by incident downtown

calgary.ctv.ca

POSTED AT 3:35 PM Tuesday, January 8

Service on the LRT line downtown was delayed for more than an hour after an incident involving a pedestrian.
It happened in the 600 block of 7 Avenue S.W.
A 17-year-old girl has head, chest, and pelvis injuries as a result of being hit by the train.
Police say they believe the girl's actions were deliberate.
The line was reopened at around 3 p.m.

Wow, that's terrible. 17 makes her in the 11th/12th grade. She must be going through something really depressing to jump in front of a train. Hopefully she pulls through and gets the help she needs.

I gotta say, it's pretty self centered to forcibly involve someone else in your suicide. I have no respect for people like that.

Whats wrong with traumatizing an innocent transit driver who will wake up everyday for the rest of his life knowing he killed you..? My buddies dad used to drive the train until a guy killed himself like that, he's still haunted by it..

I'm guessing they don't exactly want that info (the stuff I didn't quote) public.

Suicide is not some self centered act. Rational mined people don't choose to end their lives. It's the illness that they suffer from that twists their ability to asses risk, to make good choices, and to maintain a sense of future possibilities. When people act out of this illness they are not acting out of free choice. They are falling victim to the illness. The illness is not about logic or self interest but morerso about an immidiate desire to be dead.

You may not respect that person, I however have a great deal of sympathy for this person. I'm a suicide survivour myself and i hope she gets the help she needs.

for the record, when I read it was deliberate, I read it as she wasn't forced in front of the train and she was trying to cross the street. But I'm optimistic

That would be an accident though. This said the girls actions were deliberate as in she knew what she was doing.

Hate to sound unsympathetic, but forcing a train or truck driver to sit front row, center to your death act is the epitome of self centeredness IMO.

Did you not read what i just posted?

How can a person be self centered when they are not acting from a rational mind?

Hey man, would you mind editing out your post where you quoted me on page two, after reading someone elses post in here I realized it was probably not the right thing to talk about private information like that on a calgary based public messege board. Thanks.

I read what you posted. We're going to have to agree to disagree. I've known 5 people that have killed themselves. Not one of them saw fit to deliberately ruin someone else's life on their way out. That doesn't make their suicides more noble of course, but between the car/garage trick, hanging in their own closet and good old fashioned ODing, there are quite a few ways to get it done.
IMO forcing a stranger to re-live your angst for the rest of his or her life is not justified by 'not being of rational mind'.

That is only because you are in a rational mind, therefore are fit to judge.
