They haven't done any benefits in the past few years, but apparently are still supporting and spreading the cause.

Wow...There must be more to this whole thing, but I don't want to derail this thread anymore. So I'll end it with saying, that is F'd in the A.

Is Caribou the band formerly known as Manitoba?
Answered my own question;
One year later, however, Snaith was forced to give up the name Manitoba after Dictators frontman Handsome Dick Manitoba sued for trademark infringement (despite the passing of 15 years since the release of the only material under his name, a 1990 LP by Manitoba's Wild Kingdom). Snaith renamed his project Caribou [allmusic.com]

Did anyone get the new Foo Fighters CD? Personally, I like it. Nothing too hardcore, but a lot more radio friendly than previous efforts, although IMO, The Pretender is by far the best track on the CD. Worth the download time IMO.
Also, on a different note (I like them), did anyone check out the Matchbox 20 best of album? The first 6 tracks were new songs with about 2 of them being decent. Probably not worth the download for the new ones, but still a nice band IMO.

I thought it was a little too soft IMO - I agree with you, by far, the Pretender is the best track on that CD - I was hoping more of the songs would have that kind of edge to them.

I really enjoy this album so far. Some interesting sounds from Sam Beam.
October 2nd:
Wintersleep - Welcome To The Night Sky
Most people probably have never heard of these guys. They're from Halifax and I randomly found them on a usenet server and I really liked their self title release in 2003.

I did pick up the Black Market Radio CD that was released August 7th...'Better Than a Killer'... Very raw, but pretty darn good really. The songs they had up on their website are on the CD, but they didn't put the best songs up there...so the CD does have more to offer.
Peter Cornell sounds less like Chris than I first thought, and that's a good thing IMO. Nothing earth shattering, but a very good rock record by a band feeling its way. Worth the $12 US it cost me for sure.

This Week...90's Comebacks
I just listened to 3 leaked CD's today.
Britney Spears - expecting...well, nothing, and got...same old, same old. She's a mess, and the album has the same altered voice shat. Don't know what all the hype is about with this mess, but the album wasn't good - more like somebody a sphyxiating in a club. Not bad production though.
Kid Rock - never was into his stuff, but was board and with his CD it's the same thing as always, has a couple decent crossover tunes, but nothing that big.
Now here's the shocker...now real shocker. Backstreet Boys. Didn't even realize they were going to release another CD, but it's actually pretty well produced and for the most part, left out the whiney crap. Actually about 5 really good upbeat tunes which a few sound Timbaland produced (now getting overused). Wouldn't have thought in the least it would be this good. Certainly there were a few tracks that were skip overs but there were a solid 6 hip hop/techno/reggae infused tracks that were very well made. Even the last track sounded like a Beatles remake. But yeah, something to check out...and dare I say purchase if I were the buying type (or too embarrassed).

Does anyone know when the new Puscifer CD (Maynard's new project) comes out?
I know you can get it illegally, but for us true music loving folk, when can we buy the disk?

Anyone into Tool or Fu Manchu or that style of music should check out ASG. It stands for Aplification of Self Gratification. I just found them and they're pretty good. They have 4 albums and some pretty cool cover art to boot. I believe their newest was just released. checkem out

Seeing as it won't be on any standard CD release lists King's X should have a new one out in February. It's titled "Go Tell Somebody"...so I did.
Speaking of King's X Dug Pinnick recently released a new solo disc "Strum some up". Not bad but typical of the Dug's solo efforts...some nice stuff but missing the input of Ty Tabor and Jerry Gaskill his King's X band mates.

he also did Highway to Hell, Back in Black and For Those About to Rock, three of their best, so I'll keep an open mind.

Really? I'd take anything Bon Scott over all of those put together. Course, that's just my opinion...
