And there in lies the problem. No one, no matter if they are living in the spotlight or not, should have to live their life that way. And the papparazzi don't care when the celebrities have their children with them either. It just boils down to having no respect for the other person or for their personal space.
And I do not think it comes with the territory. Yes, the public wants pictures, the public wants stories, but the way these people go about it, they ruin the lives of those people. Give them some space at least, there is no reason to be right in their face, I mean, they can't even walk in public, take a pee, nothing, they live like prisoners. And I don't know if you can do adequate preparation for something like this, if you suddenly get thrust into the public eye.
All of this hoopla then crosses over to politicians, any people in the public eye. Pretty soon you will just have scum leading our nations because who on earth will want to run for public office when their lives and the lives of their families get disrupted like this on a daily basis?

I do feel sorry for her as mental illness is something that should not be taken lightly, and a lot of people with mental illness tend to drink and do a lot of drugs in the process, it's a vicious circle.
The whole paparazzi thing just f'in disgusts me.

It's not like Unfitney needs to live in LA. She's not filming movies or tv shows there. She could leave anytime and the paparazzi would no longer be chasing her everywhere.
I think she wants her private life to be in the public view because she's got nothing going on in her professional life to keep her in the spotlight.

I heard somewhere that it is actually an American tactic (not Britney herself, but the increased focus on celebs) to keep people distracted from all of the other BS going on and that this has been going on for the better part of at least the last 100 or so years. Wasn't it during the great depression that many iconic movie stars (like Greta Garbo and Bette Davis to name a couple) made their marks? World War II saw movies like Gone With the Wind (1939) & Casablanca (1942). Now with 9/11, Iraq and Afghanistan and everything else, the American media seems to be going way overboard on the lives of celebrities, is it just a coincidence?
So back to Britney, I saw a news report where they said that the kids were now in good hands because they were with Kevin Federline

This is just human nature, she was a young girl with too much pressure, made mistakes, got knocked up too early...had to marry a totally ######bag...then she did it again...then screwed everything up, divorced the ######bag and now she's been torn from the only thing she cares about, her kids by a court order. It all adds up to more and more mental illness or depression which is in a cycle with the drugs and reckless behavior...
The worst thing about this is that about 5 "news" channels are pretty much running this 24 hours a day with "analysts" debating this as if it's some kind of intellectual debate or newsworthy social phenomenon and what not... What the hell happened to television? Even Larry King is forced to talk about Britney for hours on CNN. It's ridiculous.

She was "torn" from the only she cares about by her own irresponsible actions. She has nobody to blame but herself for that. The fact that she acted in such a way that the court had to step in for her kids safety and well-being speaks to that. how bad is it when a lowlife like Kevin Federline is deemed to be the better parent?
The worst thing about it is that no matter how bad it gets and how many times you think that Brittney has hit "rock bottom" she seems to manage to do something worse.

I've always thought this is a good argument for keeping the monarchy. We pay them to take the heat and they are bred and trained for it and are able to keep some privacy with their built in support. Heaven help those who marry into it though without the proper training.

I agree, she could have taken some actions to try and correct things. She also needed some guidance in her life.
But the paparazzi follow them all over now, no matter where they go. There was just a very interesting article that I read. A lot of the Hollywood celebrities own homes in Aspen, other more remote areas in Montana etc, to try to get some peace and quiet. Well, the paparazzi are there now too, they are like vultures.
You know, a year or two ago, I heard Jann Arden on a phone in radio show, smart woman. She was responding to a question by a parent of a 16 year old, apparently the child was talented, had won some talent contests and was asking Arden for advice to promote the child's career.
Arden said, the best thing you can do is not give them a career at this stage in their life. She said, she was there, did that, it is much worse now, and what you see on TV is only the tip of the iceberg. She said, wait till they are at least 21, even later if you can postpone it. And she added that if the talent is there now, it will be there later on, but later on, the child would have a better foundation as to how to handle the talent and everything that goes along with it.

Not to be an a-hole here because that is a pretty sad story but I just find the level of coverage this is getting is just ridiculous. With so many more important things going on in the world this Britney Spears thing is getting way too much coverage on CNN. This is the type of thing that makes the American media a joke.

Nah, she just nailed some lucky pap (who better get himself down to the VD clinic ASAP) last weekend. Allegedly.
As for Britney herself, she made her own bed and I have zero sympathy for her.

Wait till she dies, it'll get higher ratings than Anna Nicole Smith.
The Vancouver Global news reported it and than gave a disclaimer saying the media should back off.
So why are they reporting it?

The media gives people what they want. People don't care about important things - they care about fluff.

I wonder if the number of people following her around has increased since the advent of You Tube. I say this because whenever I check the "most popular videos of the day" there is frequently some video of Britney going to Starbucks or something like that.

I don't think so... Youtube is free nobody gets paid for the videos. These guys are paparazzi and are looking to cash in on video, photo's, ect. You'd have to be nuts to be one of those hounds for free..
