You have to be kidding? So the why didn't Dungy sit Manning in 90% of the games this year. Not worth getting him hurt since the Colts are a shoe in for the Super Bowl. How long you been a Colts fan? 2005 - 2006?

The colts did the right thing, to compare them to the giants and patriots is unfair, and just wrong ... for obvious reasons.
If Manning went down then what?
The Browns had a great year, but the Titans play in the toughest division on the planet, so the football gods did the right thing arranging for them to play against Sorgi in week 17.

I woudn't go that far. Personally I would like to see him go. The fans in Kansas City would like to see him go. Fans in Kansas City are very fair weather. When the Chiefs are winning the stadium is full. When they are losing it is empty. Lamar Hunt is know for being very loyal. Now that his son Clark has the reins, it looks like he is very much like his father.
Carl Peterson gets a bit of a pass, from Clark I believe, since Arrowhead stadium was playing to about 30% capacity before he got there. Since then Arrowhead has turned into one of the loudest stadiums in the league and is know for having a great atmosphere. Sold out every Sunday for many years in a row. Obviously this season that wasn't the case. And it showed in the teams final home games with the stands half empty.
Peterson allways keeps the fans in Kansas City believing that they are just a year from getting the Lamar Hunt trophy. I beleive that is why he allways plugs in a veteran QB instead of developing a young QB. He keeps the Chiefs in the playoff hunt every year. Which keeps the fans believing and buying tickets. Well you can't sugar coat what the current Chiefs are. It is going to hurt the teams bottom line keeping him around since it is obvious that this team has zero chance of being a contender next season. His 18 year plan has failed. Time for Clark Hunt to grow a set and give Carl his walking papers.

For sure, but he didn't do anything to complinment them (i.e. star QB, deep threat WR). He also didn't do an adequate job of finding replacements once they started to age.

There was nothing wrong with the offense when the Chiefs had the best O-line in the NFL. They didn't need a deep threat WR. That wasn't the problem. The problem was the defense. Plan and simple. They coudn't stop anybody. The opposition knew this and would intentially keep the ball for as long as possible to keep that potent Chiefs offense off the field. Do you really need a deep threat WR when your consistantly the top offense in the NFL? As for a star QB? Trent Green was more than adequate at that time. If 4000 yards a season isn't good enough? What is?

Why is that? The IND game was actually more significant - a playoff spot was on the line for CLE and TEN. NE and NYG had nothing on the line, and no other teams were affected by the outcome.

I think he means the Colts had nothing on the line.
It is one thing that sucks about the NFL. I have my fantasy league end on week 16 since the last week is so wishy washy with some teams sitting all their star players.

Pretty much any good offensive team in the NFL has all pro talent on the line. Give any QB time to throw and his receivers will get open for him. Especially if the team can establish a running game too it can allow average QB's and WR's to make deep plays. Difference was that a guy like Trent Green was prone to throw INT's and that Kennison wouldn't make the big plays to make that team a consistent winning team nor win any playoff games. IMO they put up good numbers, but they weren't good enough to overcome that defence often enough. Whereas a guy like Manning has won some playoff games and had his team in the playoffs for several straight years before they had a defence that got it together.
I think it's time for King Carl to go too. The Chiefs had a nice run with Marty during the 90's but since he left they have two playoff seasons and one was last year where they got as lucky as you possibly could to get into the playoffs. For two years under Cunnigham they had a 9-7 and 7-9 season, than with Vermeil they were 6-10, 8-8, 13-3 (still couldn't play defence), 7-9, 10-6, than with Herm they're 9-7 and 4-12. So in 9 years they've had four winning seasons and two playoff appearances and a cumulative record of 2 games over .500. Not terrible I mean look at teams like the Lions or how the Bengal have been, but thats a long track record of what amounts to medicrity. They have not won a playoff game since like January of 1994 I think. might even be 93.

Right Troutman but a playoff spot was on the line for the Browns, not the Colts. Indy (or any team for that matter) has to watch out for their own team. We couldn't risk any more injuries in a meaningless game. We had 10 starters not even dressed tonight due to injuries so we couldn't risk losing another starter. It was the right call by Dungy. I would have done the exact same thing. If Manning, Addai or Wayne gets hurt, then what? Yay we win the game but a star player gets hurt in a meaningless game. You can curse the Colts all you want but it's the Browns fault they missed the playoffs, not the Colts.

I think he means just based on the game yesterday. If Tennessee plays how they did yesterday vs San Diego next week, it will be a blowout. They need to make a lot more plays to win next week then they did yesterday.

Exactly. They lost to the Bengals when they had the chance to lock away a spot and threw the game away, putting their playoff hopes in the hands of the Titans and Colts. Colts did what's right by them and the Titans came to play.

Bingo. And a big play WR can be the difference between just getting into the playoffs and going to the Superbowl (just ask my fellow Eagles fans).

If Eli Manning went down, then what?
Giants didn't need to play their starters either.

You have to admit that the major weakness on those Chiefs teams was the Defense though. Its not like scoring 35 points a game wasn't good enough. It was the 38 points the opposition was scoring that was the problem. So a big threat WR would have been more icing on one side of the cake. While the other half still had no icing.

Yeah, all it likely would have done was allowed them to win a playoff game or make a couple other playoff appearances had they had a better QB or a top WR. The lack of any type of defence ultimately had more to do with their standing than anything. Of course now that that great line is gone....things look pretty bleak unless they do a great job of drafting here this year.
