Question Regarding Buying From Amazon Online
Boston Legal - Season 2
Price on Amazon.ca, the Canadian website
$71.89
http://www.amazon.ca/Boston-Legal-Se...8989317&sr=8-3
Boston Legal - Season 2
Price on Amazon.com, the American website
$29.99
http://www.amazon.com/Boston-Legal-S.../dp/B000HT3P56
Needless to say I ordered off of the US site. I marked that it was a gift so maybe customs won't look at it (maybe they will, regardless whatever charge there is will be less than the $40.00 price differential).
Can anyone else explain that to me?

I think the US site just has more blowout sales than the Canadian one. I bought Band of Brothers for $26 off Amazon.com with no customs being charged to me.

Its unexplainable, and plain ridiculous. I've ordered countless items off of Amazon.com, and even after having to pay for shipping, it is still cheaper virtually every time than Amazon.ca with FREE shipping.

Last fall I had a couple books ordered from Amazon.ca, one of which was 3-4 weeks for delivery. Well, when the dollar jumped and a month later it hadn't shipped I checked Amazon.com. I emailed Amazon.ca to see if they would match, and they wouldn't but said I was free to order from Amazon.com, which was a few dollars more for delivery, but saved me a lot more than that in the price difference. (And no, there were no extra customs fees)

If you order from amazon.com they ship from their Ontario depot so you will never get charged duty or tax. Too bad they won't ship any electronics up here though.

No prob. Have ordered at least 10 times from them this year. Only books and dvds are shippable to Canada though. No one in Canada is even close to their Blu Ray dvd prices.

There are a ton of sites that rip us off for being canadian....or naive?????
I found a pair of Oakley's I liked in Calgary for $230. I checked oakley.ca and they were around that same price with shipping. I went to Oakley.com and they were only $145. I was actually in Montana and bought them there for $145. If you are in Canada now Oakley won't even let you access their .com site only the .ca. If you type in .com it will refer you to .ca because of your Canadian IP. I don't know if that is shallow or good business. The prices of Oakley's have not dropped a penny even with the dollar at par.

Well we are not always getting ripped off.
My next purchase from amazon is going to be Penn & Tellers: BS! TV series on DVD.
Penn & Teller: BS! Season 1-3
Amazon.com
$80.99
Penn & Teller: BS! Season 1-3
Amazon.ca
$71.28
Even the fourth season is $1.25 cheaper on the Canadian site. Unfortunately the Canadian site is sold out of the 1-3 package. But that's from the holiday season, they had them in stock at the beginning of December.

I was looking at their bluray prices . . . unbelievable! I'm getting into the world of hd in the first week in January, so I might have to do some shopping at the american store.

You guys do realize that amazon is also a third party seller like eBay (in addition to their normal business)? Many of the different prices are because they aren't actually coming from amazon itself. Not sure if that is the case here, but thought it should be mentioned.

You have to ship them to a US address. I have a post office box in Houston. If you try to check out with a canadian address it asks you to remove those items from the shopping cart before you can proceed.

Yeah, the two electronic items I've tried to purchase from amazon.com to a canadian address, were failures. Does anyone know why we arent allowed? None of the amazon call center people could give me a proper answer, it was basically one of those "just because" things.
oh, and if a site is bulldozing you to a .ca site based on your IP, you could try sites like the onion router to get around that.

approximately how long did the shipping take to arrive?
It says estimated date of arrival is January 23rd, it indeed it's from Ontario that's a long freakin' time.
