Just looking for some advice. I have a CCM helmet that is falling apart and need a new one. I've been looking at this one:

1052 Tacks

I'm also trying to find a webpage for RBK Hockey but can't find it. I like the style of their helmets but I can't find them in the stores.

Anyone have a newer helmet they love/hate? Price isn't a factor as I am willing to part with a large sum of cash to protect what few brain cells I have left. I don't need a cage, I'll use my old visor....and I have a huge melon, so sizing may be an issue.

Thanks for any advice/help guys!

Frank,

Hockey helmets are like skates... you just buy the helmet that fits the best. Helmets all fit different head shapes and you just need to find the one that is comfortable and fits your head correctly in order to disperse shocks.

The CCM 1052 Tacks helmet is a good one though.

I wear a Bauer H5000 and really like it. The fit is great for my head and the gel packs help in the comfort/safety department. When I get a new helmet I will probably get a Bauer H8000 because of the added protection and increased tailoring in fit.

If you are checking out other helmets I would suggest checking out the Itech H100 and see how they fit you as well. From what I've heard they are a very protective helmet.

The Reebok Hockey Web Site can also be found here.

I too have a big melon, and the only lid that would fit me was the Bauer 8000. Any others just didn't fit good at all. Love the adjustability on it.

I guess I was looking for as many options as possible because I have tried on the CCM 1052 and the large, pulled out all the way is still a bit too tight on my noodle. I like the comfort of it though. But they don't make an XL, just in the next model down and I hate the padding in that one.

Thanks for the link to RBK Hockey, I searched everywhere and couldn't find that bastid.

I'll check out the itech as well. We need more hockey stores in London!

My CCM is crushing my melon too. I have a shaved head and you can see the indents from the padding on on my head for hours after a game! I'm going to have to check out this bauer. Hard to find hockey equipment where I live so that I can try things on.
