Default Any stores open today?

I forgot to pick up an X-mas card.

Is there any way I'd be able to find one today?

All Tim Horton's are closed up here at least. They would be doing good business today I'm sure, but I guess even they need to see their families once in awhile.

Run over to the neighbours and see if they have an extra?

Any store that is open today has to be owned by a Scrooge.

Shame on them for making employees work Christmas day!

I've had to do it. It sucks, but some people/companies dont care. The almighty dollar rolls ever onward.

A bunch of the kids on the soccer team I coach work at a movie theater and they're all working today. I almost feel like going over there and giving them a hard time.

Besides, it gives old mizers, bag-ladies and the unloved something to do for the holidays.

Double pay doesn't replace time spent with family. I'm sure those employees of 7-11 etc would rather be at home with loved ones.

I've had too also.

Give the people that patronise those places on Christmas day a hard time instead. Bunch of self centered Scrooges. It always seems to be okay as long as they don't have to work it. Too bad they can't see past the end of their noses to realise that if they weren't in that movie theatre or convienice store employees could be at home with families

I really dont think it is that big of a deal. I am the first person to defend Christmas rights but there are a lot of people out there that dont celebrate it. And even if they do, that just comes with the job. People can always take time off if they want. Not to mention if they are given the day off somepeople cant afford it.

I agree that it is best spent with family but there is also a lot of money to be made on Christmas day because there isn't many stores open.

If they don't celebrate Christmas then have some respect for those that do by not patronising places open on Christmas day. And getting that time off is not always that simple.

I call it the greed syndrome. And you can be sure those owners are sitting at home with familes celebrating Christmas while some employee who desperately needs the money is working. Something wrong with that picture if you ask me.

I celebrate Christmas, I work Christmas and I will probably (correction) I have already purchased several things today. Big woop.

It is called capitalism. And the employee that desperately needs the money will get the money. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with that picture. If you have to work Christmas morning, do your presents the night before or when you get back from work. It's not the end of the world.

Uh...Yeah...I'm actually sitting home alone because both my parents are working right now. My parents would actually rather have that double pay...So you can't speak for everyone. We don't really celebrate Christmas at our house. Our big holiday is Chinese New Year.

Meh - you're making a big deal out of nothing really.

I use to run a call center, and people from the middle east and asia would line-up to work on Christmas Day for the extra pay.

Other cultures have their own holidays to work around and spend time with their families. Doesn't make it greedy that they don't adhere to Western holiday dates, and choose to make a few extra bucks instead.

A friend of mine quit her job at 7-11 so she could spend Christmas mornng with her kids. Seems her boss wouldn't give her the time off. Maybe you don't see a problem but she sure as hell did. Her kids were more important than the all mighty buck capitalism strives for.
