In 1999, Jewel released a Christmas album called "Joy - A Holiday Collection."

Sometime after that, on the PBS concert series "Sessions at West 54," she taped a television Christmas special with a studio audience and an orchestra featuring the songs on the album.

My favourite Christmas special.

Me too.. I always secretly pray for the alternate ending where all the toys go off the cliff and christmas is ruined..

As weird as it sounds, I got hooked by the SNL christmas special this year. It had so many great christmas skits

Steve Martin's christmas wish (look it up, its fantastic)

The original lost ending of its a wonderful life (again a classic)

Frankenstein, Tonto singing christmas carols

A gumby christmas with Frank Sinatra

As far as other ones go. The original grinch is far better then the Jim Carey one, the muppet christmas with Michael Caine, the south park christmas episode where they rescue Santa after his sleigh is shot down in Iraq ("Oh no, not Santa's balls") the Charlie Brown Christmas with the pathetic tree.

All good.

Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics

...it is the South Park christmas episode from season 3 and it just includes about 8 or 9 songs, no actual episode, but the songs are all classic.

I'm glad there are a lot of people who share my love of A Muppets' Christmas Carol. I watch it every year. We also have a family tradition of watching Christmas Vacation and White Christmas on Boxing Day. Good old Bing Crosby! And The Nightmare Before Christmas, which my sister and I watch both on Halloween and Christmas. It has a great soundtrack.

Several of the South Park ones, Mr Hankey, when Santa gets shot down in Bagdad, where they travel through Canada (i think that was an Xmas one)

and the SNL eddie murphy skit where he talks about selling cabbage patch dolls to little kids for $50 bucks (with actual cabbage heads) "can you believe that. fifty dollars!!" "another X word boys and girls Xscape" (as the police bang on the door)

Christmas Vacation. When he falls down the attic ladder after getting trapped up there cracks me up. Also cousin Eddy's "SH1TTERS FULL" while waving at the neighbors.

Oh Sparky.

And probably the worst of all time; Star Wars Christmas Special. In 1978, George Lucas didn't realize what he had aggreed to because he was to busy with empire.

It's 2 hours of pure crap.

I watched the Heman and Shera Xmas special last week. It was awful and great all at the same time.

Good thread idea.

I'm a sucker for Danny Kaye and the Bingster's White Christmas.

I'd love to get a second look at A Cosmic Christmas. IIRC, it was a Canadian-made animatated special that came out in '77 or '78.

Scrooged is great, love the animated Grinch (Jim Carrey one is crap). Christmas Vacation is good as well. Badder Santa made me laugh. But the funniest one by far is "The Ref" starring Denis Leary. If you haven't seen this gem, find it.

Not really Christmas specials but:

Bad Santa
Nightmare Before Christmas

They're always great.

How I forgot that one, I'll never figure out.

The scene with the nativity scene was the funniest thing I've ever seen. The turkey on his head was later done in an episode of friends, but it was nowhere near as funny.
