Sorry, but the Cowboys as good as they have been at times this year are not miles ahead of everyone in the NFC. The love-in with the Cowboys is nothing new among media types, some of it is deserved and some of it is so far over the line it's laughable. Again though, its nothing new for "Americas" team to be crowned kings long before they have a reason to be.

I would say talent wise the Cowboys are indeed the class of the NFC. I would also think you can say that if the Cowboys show up and play their best game they beat any other team other than New England.
But that is regular season. Playoffs -- all bets are off. Intensity cranks up and experience becomes a big factor. Heck and if Green Bay ends up with home field advantage then the game could be the "Frozen Bowl" or some such goofiness.

I think Indianapolis would have something to say about that. The favorites so far(who are currently in a playoff spot) in my opinion in order:
1. New England (Boooooooo)
2. Indianapolis - WOOOO, GO COLTS!
3. Dallas
4. Green Bay
5. Jacksonville
6. San Diego
7. Pittsburgh
8. Cleveland
9. Tampa Bay
10. Seattle
11. Minnesota
12. NY Giants

agreed, except I would put Jacksonville ahead of Dallas.
Well, let me clarify. I think Jacksonville is a better team than Dallas (third best in the league), but I think they have a worse chance winning the superbowl because the AFC >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NFC.

Then why couldn't they put up more than 6 points against a very mediocre Eagles team on Sunday at home (I'll admit our defense is pretty good)? I also think the Steelers and Chargers would beat Dallas on a neutral field.

Rams to retire Marshall Faulk's jersey tonight.

Great honour for one of the classiest guys in the league. He should be a first ballot Hall of Famer. I remember watching the Eagles play the Rams in the 2001 NFC Championship and screaming at the TV because nobody could stop Faulk.

Wow, are these the worst announcers in the history of pro sports? They're so terrible, they make me want to turn the channel.

Don't allow this to lower your opinion of Collinsworth. Gumble is THE reason for the travesty you're listening to. I feel confident in saying that he's the worst sports announcer I've ever heard...and its not even close. Last week Gumble was MIA and they pitted Collinsworth with the PBP guy that does NBC's Notre Dame games, and it was 10 times better. I was hoping Gumble had been let go, but tonight I am disappointed to see he has not.

My power rankings:
1. NE
2. IND
3. JAC
4. SD
5. DAL
6. GB
Seriously: I think the AFC is miles ahead of the NFC. Who have DAL or GB really beat this year of any consequence? And DAL really should have lost to BUF and DET. Only GB has beat one of my top 4 teams this year (GB beat SD at home when the Chargers were struggling).
Come on Rams - upset the Steelers, and the Browns are in the driver seat in the AFC North . . .

Well GB beat SD this year. But I can see why you have Jacksonville 3rd. I couldn't decide if I should have put Jacksonville at 4 or 5.

Did you watch the game? Collinsworth was not there. It was Gumbel, Deion Sanders, and Marshall Faulk...
Awesomeness.

Oh man...the old NESN broadcasts of the early 90's. Derek Sanderson told an interesting story about how he became an alchoholic and blew all his money because as he put it, he bought the world a drink. But as a color guy I didn't care for him either.

hahahaha ouch, ya fair enough. I only watched it for about 10 mins and I was on the phone with my buddy in that time so I never really heard. Ya that definitely would be tough to listen to.

I'd take Dallas and Green Bay over San Diego, and I'd honestly put Dallas ahead of Jacksonville too. The AFC is still clearly the better conference, but I don't think its as big a gap as its been in previous years, the NFC has caught up a little this year.

SD is an enigma.
When they are on I think they may be able to beat anyone. But they are so hit and miss I would almost need to rank them twice - once when they are good and once when they are bad.

In the first 10 weeks of the season they were not playing like a playoff calibre team. In the last 5 they've shown signs of being as good as they are supposed to be. They might be like Pittsburgh from a couple years ago where they're playing their best football now and LT has his game in full form and poised to do some things here in the playoffs. You just never know when the Norv factor is going to show up again with that team. As you say...when they're on, they can beat anyone in the NFL...Patriots and Colts included...but they're so inconsistant you really have no idea what team will show up.

DAL and GB have enjoyed relatively soft schedules. I really don't think either team could beat NE, IND, JAC, SD or even PIT on most nights.

Looking at the Pick'em pool, there are only 3 or 4 games with more than a couple people making different picks.
Pitt/Jac/Ind/Ari/TB/Tenn/NE/Sea/SD were all unanimous picks.
Out of the 13 people who made picks:
3 people picked KC over Det
5 people picked Phil over NO
4 people picked NYG over Buffalo
1 person picked Chi over GB (Cheese, with 1 confidence point)
3 people picked Cin over Cle
2 people picked Wash over Minn
1 person picked Car over DAl (Troutman, with 1 confidence point)
