After reading the Google article, I kept expecting to find something to confirm it was a joke.
Seeing as they are serious...I have to laugh pretty hard. Good luck with that.

Hopefully it's not the same in the states.

I wonder if the non-Native dwellers on their land would be considered illegal aliens. Or for that matter, if they would have to be Black-Hawked out of the country and into the 'green zones' of Cheyenne or Des Moines....

I see this lasting all of about 2 days. What would be funnier is if the US says: ok you are separate, but now you have to show a passport to come into the US. And build a giant wall around them.
Wonder how that would work out.

Forget a wall! I'm thinking tigers. Vicious man-eating tigers.

Right, well if anyone could unilaterally secede then you would see countries like Spain, Greece, Romania, Cyprus and, yes, Canada be a lot smaller than they currently are. However there is a lot of support in the EU and NATO for Kosovo's desire to unilaterally secede from Serbia, so if that happens we've got a major precedent in international law.

I think it might be cheaper for the US to fight them and stop them then the alternative... letting them separate, watching them degenerate, and having to bring them back in and clean up the mess.
Note: That's not meant as a shot at their ethnicity, but the idea of building a sustainable country with no taxes, no port access, unfriendly neighbors and no significant resources is ridiculous at best.

I wonder if the terrorists are going to use this as a propaganda tool like they did Hurricane Katrina and other disasters?....Seems like this would be more fodder for them to play around with.

If they want to go to the beach, they're screwed.
Would their economy be based on the Black Hills gold standard?

Just found this image, not sure what each seperate color represents, but the overall yellow colour is their land, then they take up a lot larger area of land than I expected

EDIT: Image is big, so I just made it a link inorder to not screw up the look of this forum.
EDIT x2: Found this link which explains the colours etc.
