Well, it wasn't all that long ago that it was pretty normal for a 16 year old to start a family. I'm willing to bet that if you dug back far enough into your own family tree (say ~100 years), you would find teenagers who had children. In many countries, it is still like that.
The fact that a 16 year old being sexually active is being frowned upon is a more recent change in society. It's certainly not against human nature.

I just got an overwhelming sense of sadness from reading this article. Not only because it's essentially a 16 year old essentially bragging about being pregnant, but because I actually took the time to click on this thread and then read the article. Either way, I hope it all turns out as rosy as she seems to think it will be.

In Canada maybe...not in the US. In Lousiana where trashy is from the age of consent is 17, in California it is 18, I have no idea where these two losers did the nasty though, but I would think definatley one of those two states.

That is true in Canada.
In the States, it varies from State to State. If they're in California, the age of consent is 18, and he could apparently be charged with a misdemeanor because their age difference is less than 3 years (assuming it is less than 3 years). It appears that it would be okay if they're married, so if they're living together, I don't know how the law would rule.

The story of course was on the news and they had some stats about teen pregnacy which I thought were kind of interesting. In the states their teenage pregnacy rate per 1000 women are similar to third world countries. I think they mentioned the states being at around 53 with Rwanda and some other african countries around 50 as well. Canada and England came in around 20 and France at 8.
I found that pretty interesting and i think there is a corelation between countries and how they teach and preceive sex.

Just because she's 16 and pregnant doesn't make her trashy or a loser. She might be trahsy or she might not be. But being 16, having sex and making the mistake or missing a pill or two or forgetting a condom doesn't mean trashy. It means being 16 and irresponsible like most 16 year olds are.
My girlfriend at 16 certainly wasn't trashy despite us having sex at that time...of course she's been my wife for 12 years now as well.
from my experience of being 16 years old at one time was that 16 year olds do far stupider things than having sex and getting pregnant.
