What do you guys wear for pants when playing outdoors?

I've worn MEC fleece pants for a few years but they always get covered in snow and then wet because I drop to block a lot of shots.

I think nylon pants with some long ginch underneath might do it.

I just wear jeans with long underwear.

I always wear elbow pads, though. I fell on my elbow once, and man did it ever hurt like a biatch.

I kinda wear the whole Borat ensemble. That way I have pretty much a clear path to the net. I like to call my celebration the dental floss dance.

Ill add one:
If you want to block a shot with your stick, make sure it is parallel to your body. Lunging it forward creates a ramp.

Wow that brings back memories. I was playing defense, and my partner stuck his stick out to steal the puck from the puck carrier who was in mid shot. That puck went right up in the air, hit me in the forehead making that hollow coconut crunching sound, busting my forehead open and knocking me completely into another time zone.

We had kids crying, the rink Marshall was digging for smelling salts, my best friend picked up the puck skated around my body while everyone checked on me and scored the cheapest goal in the history of pickup hockey, and did the Theo Fleury celebration.

Whadda jerk.

I'll totally vouch for this one, same day Canada won the gold medal in 2000 about 20 of us out playing at the local rink pass comes from my left puck gets deflected up and takes out my two front teeth, no snapping and break, it's a complete explosion of teeth, in the 2 weeks I couldn't eat anything I lost 30 pounds and have never been able to get it back.

I prefer to play outdoor shinny with alot of little kids... We had a backyard rink and the most fun ever was father son games with the neighbours... Nothing feels better then a 5 year old skating around you and watching him GLOW with pride..

Sort of on-topic: Anyone know some good rinks that flood on a daily basis? I know of a couple in the SW that have zamboni's flood daily, but I'm in Hawkwood so I'm looking for something a little more central or in the NW.

Make sure one of your friends is an enforcer, keep things honest.

Anyone playing @ Hidden Valley tonight?

Varsity/Hidden Valley are usually pretty good for ice, close to you too. Havn't been out yet this year, but last year was great.

1. Always take slap shots

2. Don't pass to ANYONE, including your younger siblings

3. Give any little kid that is in front of you a lil' "how's she goin".

The one in Silver Springs was awesome last year. From Hawkwood take John Laurie to Sarcee head south on Sarcee and it turns into Silver Springs BVLD or something like that.
It curves to a stop light. Go through that and its on the right.

That's probably the best I've found in the NW so far. My only problem is that it can get pretty busy some nights. I guess any rink that floods is eventually going to get crowded though.

The one in Varsity is solid too. I lived right down the street from it last year so I was on there essentially every night.

I agree that it gets to busy some nights, that's when my buddies would move to the small rink right next to it with the nets that were just the crossbar and a bit of post, we had some good 1 on 1 and 2 on 2 games on that

And in case you don't know, there is a police station there. Don't speed.

You should see the look on the kids faces when I lay my best toe drag on um!!... I'm MARIO FREAKING LEMIEUX!!!

On a side note, alot of the lake communities have machine flooded ice.. Of course someof them you have to live there or know someone does to get on it...

Wildwood Rink in the SW has daily floods..... but it can get extremely busy. I used to play there about 20 to 30 times a year and there would always be the same group of guys out.

Anyone know any good rinks in the Woodbine/Braeside area?
