Default Just walked in on a Massive Break-and-enter

Well this is one for the books.... Went downstairs for a smoke in our underground parking in our building, only to walk in on two people smashing all the windows and jacking goods out of almost every car in the lot. They saw us, and started running, but the couldnt get into the elevator lobby, and they couldn't find a opener (presumably that the stole) from their bags to open the car gate. They had crowbars, and so we didn't approach very close, we just told them they were on camera, and that we had a clear picture of their faces. We ran upstairs to our apartment and called 911, and we watched them walk away from the building, scoping other cars. My brother and I then went back downstairs with golf clubs and scoured the area, but they had left. By then, the police had shown up and even they were shocked to see all the break-ins.

I'm just in disbelief at how callous some people can be, and even more amazed at how my smoking actually did some good in this world rather than damage!!

If anyone knows of a guy and a girl, both about 5'8, big black jackets, crowbars, and carrying knapsacks, any information would be appreciated, which I can relay to the police. The guy had stubble and longer black hair under a ball cap, and the chick had faded orange shoulder-length hair with a pale complexion. Both were white, about 18-24 years old.

Thanks guys,

Ozy

Wow, good for you, our condo garage has had quite a few break ins. The cops basically say there is nothing they can do, and even if they did "judges just let them out anyway".

It made me feel really safe. We've basically instituted a policy at our condo "don't leave anything in your car". Also, many residents either a) leave their doors unlocked or b) leave their doors unlocked and their windows rolled down.

In South Africa everyone just leaves their glove compartment, change compartment, everything open inside the car with the doors locked so thieves can look in and plainly see the vehicle is not worth breaking into. Leaving the car unlocked, I guess that is more like an invitation to get your car stolen.

My building's garage had 20 cars broken into last week, might be the same f-tards that you saw too...the cops came and looked at the tapes, we haven't heard back from them yet though.

You likely won't hear much. This happened to my gf a few years ago. They broke into her car, and several others. However my gf had misplaced her second set of keys to her car, and guess where they were. In her vehicle somewhere, of course.

Here's the good part, after the car was stolen, it was found without any real damage. They returned the car to my gf, and there were notes inside thanking some guy for lending his car. Basically we had notes from 2 girls, their names, a cell phone number all on this note. So we called the cops back and told them we found this stuff in the car. It took almost 2 months for the cops to show up and pick up these notes, and at least look into it. By that point, we had figured out who the girls were who had borrowed the car (they were from the same hometown as my gf), and where they lived in that particular town. I guess the guy stole all this stuff, used the car as a getaway, and just took it down the road to a bar. These girls were drunk after some concert, had misplaced their own car, and the guy lent them my gf's car to get from Calgary to their city in exchange for a cell phone. Real strange story I know.. It took 2 MONTHS to get back to us when we had some serious evidence on this guy (apparently he's on camera breaking into cars all over downtown.)

Flylock Shox and I once saw a b&e of a car in Vancouver, so we chased the guy and made him give all the stuff back.

I felt like Spiderman for a while after that.

I once turned around just in time to see one guy punch another guy in the face. The punchee fell to the ground and the puncher grabbed the wallet out of punchee's hand.
Puncher started to walk away. Just as I thought I had just witnessed a robbery, puncher tapped another guy on the shoulder and handed him the wallet.
That guy probably felt like spiderman for awhile, too.

All of our stores do the same. At night, every cash drawer is left open, but empty. A thief trying to break into a locked drawer causes a lot more damage to the entire store than one who can tell in 2 seconds that there is nothing to steal.

Too bad Ozy didn't have a bat, golf club, whatever. The revolving door justice system doesn't seem to work so well. Pound them into pulp and dispose of.

That happened in my old condo too - I feel your pain. Smash and grab of 8 cars one night including mine, but repeated about 4 times before I moved out. Cops actually bothered to roll up one night - had us file reports, but given some decent camera footage they really didn't do anything. The general lackadaisical approach of the CPS to these breakins is disturbing.

I caught this guy prowling around cars in the parking garage as I was just getting ready to drive away. He didn't notice me as i didn't start my vehicle yet and I proceeded to phone the CPS non-emergency number. Good luck getting through. I never did get through, he noticed me and took off running. I've had my truck broke into and some of my tools stolen...chaps my ass. Stupid thing is if you manage to catch one of these a**holes, you have to kill him so you can't get testified against...at least thats what I was told by a cop once.

Too bad you guys didnt' have cell phones with Camera's on you at the time. Underground parking is the worst because once a thief gets in, it's like shopping in a mall for them.

A few months ago 14 cars in my apartment building's underground apartment were hit in one night, including mine. They smashed passenger's side windows and took what they could out of the glove box.

The cops turned up to get a "report" from all the people that had their cars broken into. I couldn't believe how half-assed their approach to the break-ins was. One cop had a tiny notepad he pulled out of his belt and just wrote down names, phone numbers, and what was stolen. He looked bored as he was asking people for information and seemed like he was just trying to get out of there as fast as he could. Before he leaves the cop tells me something like "this kind of stuff happens all the time, we'll look into it, but I wouldn't expect much". The parking lot had security cameras, but the police didnt seem to concerned about getting the footage.

My friend had his bike stolen along with dozens of others from the bike lockup in his apartment building, and the police had the same attitude with him. I guess B&E and stealing is pretty low down the priorities of the police services.

Frigging judges are the cause of a lot of the problems in our society and legal system. If they want to release thugs back into the community all the time, maybe they should be forced to take these thugs into their homes an keep and eye on them.

Indeed. Isn't it strange, however, that they continually find new and better ways to charge people with speeding? Hmm...I wonder why that is...

Condo org should hand out tasers. Then you could have taken the fight to them and fried them .
