Actually, I ended up overhyping it myself. The Hitmen traditionally don't open the 300s, but they always have if demand is there, so when they said only 400 tickets were left, I was figuring it was the entire Dome, not just the first two tiers. 17,300 might only be the 5th largest crowd in franchise history, so it isn't like the demand was unprecidented.

I'm wondering whether maybe it's because the powers that be might not have heard of the Bruins. I mean, we hear a lot about them down here, and I've seen most every game they've played at the Coliseum, but even the fans in the Eastern Conference don't really know what they are missing (kind of like us with teams like Lethbridge and Regina, Calgary not so much 'cause they're on TV a fair bit)..
Tough break, even though I really hadn't thought too much about the possibility of him making the team (I'm surprised that Negrin didn't get an invite too, but there are so many stud D-men in this league)..

I would have to imagine that they had scouts based in Vancouver to check the western teams. Leaving Santorelli off is really quite interesting. As much as I like Ryan White, I probably wouldn't have taken him over Santorelli, as an example.

LOL! Guess who got player of the week too!
EDIT: For you folks in Calgary who are interested in seeing what me and West Karma have been talking about for the last few pages, the Giants/Bruins game on Dec. 14 (in Chilliwack) will be on Shaw.

You know, I hate that. The Giants and Hitmen are on most games. If they are going to show a game in an arena outside of the Saddledome and PNE, then show a couple of teams that don't get much visibility.
Though, of course, money talks, and there is a reason why Calgary and Vancouver are on almost every game.

I see your point, and as a fan of a small-market team (primarily, the Giants are just convenient) I agree. I think it's strange that Shaw seems unable to show games from Regina, and I'd like to see the American teams every now and then, especially since the Chiefs are #1 in the league and they don't come here for the rest of the season.
That said, I looked at the Shaw sched, and of all the games they are showing, the following teams aren't shown at all: Everett, Seattle, Spokane, Tri-City. Of the 28 games they are slated to show, only nine involve Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton as the home team. They actually made the effort to show two games from Prince Albert (although one of them is against the Giants, the other one was a couple weeks ago).
All in all , I'm satisfied with what Shaw does, they really seem to have picked up where Sportsnet's old CHL Sunday left off.

Looks like Shaw has gotten better with the distribution then. I think last year, 20/30 games featured Calgary or Vancouver. Unfortunately, I don't have Shaw anymore, so I don't get the games.

Hitmen continue to run through the opposition like it isn't there. 7-3 win over Prince Albert tonight, and another 40 shot effort. For the time being, it puts Calgary 2nd in the WHL with 45 points, though Vancouver is only one point back with two games in hand.

^^^ Giants continue to do much the same. Medicine Hat was here tonight, Vancouver cruised to a 6-3 win, though a lengthy 5 on 3 for the Tigers could have drastically changed what was at the time a 4-2 game. Casey Pierro-Zabotel, who Vancouver picked up from the BCHL's Merritt Centennials a few weeks ago, picked up the hatty.
Also, referee Pat Smith's gf sat behind me tonight, I must say the age-old question on whether referees have puck bunnies was finally answered for me. Possibly the most annoying person I have encountered in over 15 years of attending hockey games. I kinda feel for the guy actually...
Big home-and-home against the 'Wack next weekend, the Friday game (from Prospera) will be on Shaw.

Nice to see the Tigers finally taken down a peg. About time they had to rebuild a little. Now, if we could just gain some separation from the Ice and Canes...

Shaw Cable doesn't operate in Regina, that's why they don't as a rule broadcast games from there

Hitmen vs Red deer Friday Dec 14th
Daughter ill, wife to stay home with her.
Good news: I may have 1-3 very good seats, section 112, row 9.
Bad news: I am still going to go, so you'd have to sit near me.

Maybe I wasn't clear or everyone's busy. I have free tickets for the game tonight. Who wants to come boo JD Watt?

From what I heard on TV the RD/CGY game sounded like it had some spirit!
After having watched the Giants and Bruins again tonight, I remembered that at the beginning of the year, Vancouver was worried about their defence. Now the word is (according to Dan Russell's interview with Giants GM Scott Bonner) that they are looking to fill a vacant 20 y.o. spot with a defenseman. How many fewer opportunities can they possibly give up, based on their stingy play in recent weeks.
BTW West Karma, they had Santorelli on in the first int, he sounded like he's focused on the Bruins rather than Canada like you mentioned. Good on him!

I don't think I've ever been to a WHL game with that many fights, there might have been 10. Gillen and Schultz did well, Galiardi not so much. Looked like Watt tried to fight Mercer, but Mercer delined. In the last seconds Red Deer tough guy Esposito went after Galiardi, who wanted no part of him. Alex Plante was right there and did nothing. Then Esposito gave Plante a shot and Plante looked scared. Not a good sign for whoever drafted him I think.
Watt did nothing all game except for a terrible dive.

Was stuck in Edmonton last night, so missed this game... shame. Eight fights, and JD Watt is nowhere near any of them. How utterly surprising... I see he did take a diving penalty though. Again, utterly surprising.
Since I was in Edmonton though, I did catch the Tigers/Oil Kings game. Three fights there, including a literal knockout. The Tiger player in the third fight was down for about ten minutes before he finally had enough of himself to skate out. I found it comical that they hung Memorial Cup banners for the original Oil Kings using the new logo. Gotta love Edmonton attempting to manufacture history for a team that has none. It's also typical living-in-the-past thinking up north.
Speaking of diving, Farmanara is still playing his typical coward's game. Fortunately, neither Herman nor Berdusco were falling for it.
